Devena Cross

Devena Cross, 84, of Union Hill passed away Dec. 18 at Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral services were held Dec. 21 from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Hubert Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers included: Brian Cross, James Cross, Jeff Cross, Derek Jones, Dellon Wilmoth and Joel Wilmoth.

Devena Cross was born Jan. 10, 1927 in Clay County. She was retired from RCA and was affiliated with the Union Hill Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Ethel Dodson Wilmoth; husband, Alvin Bud Cross; brothers, Delmon Wilmoth and Dumas Wilmoth; and sister, Betty Payne.

Surviving relatives include: son, Bobby Cross of Greenwood, IN daughter, Loretta and husband Charles Estep of Red Boiling Springs; brothers, Johnny Wilmoth of Moss, Euel B. Wilmoth of Indianapolis, IN, Dois Wilmoth of Putnam County, IN Joel Wilmoth of Fairland, IN and Dillon Wilmoth of Brown County, IN sister, Daisy Troxell of Indianapolis, IN and Brenda Gruff of Greenwood, IN grandchildren, Derek Jones, Dena Estep, Brian Cross, James Cross and Jeff Cross; and great grandchildren, Chevelle Jones, Jaci Cross, Brice Cross and Ella Cross.

Estell Etheridge Gentry

Retired

Estell Etheridge Gentry, 90, of Red Boiling Springs passed away Dec. 23 at The Palace. Funeral services were held Dec. 26 from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kathleen Browning officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery.

Pallbearers included: James Lyons, Paul Lyons, Jason Gentry, Jessie Gentry, Jeff Gentry, Todd Gentry, Bob Etheridge and Dave Etheridge.

Estell Etheridge Gentry was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Macon County. She was a garment factory worker with 50 years of service and a member of the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by  her parents, Willie and Etta Western Etheridge; husband, Oscar Jesse Gentry; twin sons; sisters, Zula Hackett, Eva Ferguson, Johnny Vinson and Lorell Montgomery; and brother, H.D. Etheridge.

Surviving relatives include: daughters, Shirley and husband Billy Lyons of Lafayette and Ann and husband Jerry Pippin of Gallatin; sons, Gene and wife Myra Gentry and Dennis and wife Shirley Gentry all of Red Boiling Springs, Junior and wife Sue Gentry of Hustisford, WI and Louis and wife Joyce Gentry of Lafayette; special nephew, Ralph Etheridge of Nashville; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Roger Wheeler

Self Employed

Roger Wheeler, 62, of Red Boiling Springs passed away Dec. 25 at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services were held Dec. 28 from the chapel of Anderson and Son Funeral Home with Elder Ricky Day and Elder J.W. Greanead officiating. Interment followed in the Sunrise Cemetery.

Active pallbearers included: Kason Wheeler, Kason Wix, Gary Wheeler, Gary Davis, Troy Brewer, Randy Kirby, Donnie Crawford and Todd Gentry.

Honorary pallbearers included: Joe Copas, Harry Smith and Jimmy Woodard.

Roger Wheeler was born May 13, 1949 in Macon County. He was a self employed electrician for many years and a member of the Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bertha Carnahan Wheeler; and a great nephew, Troy Woodard.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Tony Wheeler and Jeff and wife Tina Wheeler; sister, Vivian Woodard all of Red Boiling Springs; brothers, Elder Gordon and wife Lois Wheeler of Russell Hill and Billy and wife Betty Wheeler of Red Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Kayley Wheeler, Kason Wheeler, Karlee Wheeler, Kelby Wheeler, and Kason Wix; and a host of nieces and nephews.
