Allon C. Reeder

Auto Glass Technician

Allon C. Reeder, 68, of Hilham passed away Dec. 24 at his residence. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Scantland officiating. Interment followed in the Stacy Cemetery.

Allon C. Reeder was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Overton County. He was an auto glass technician and was a member of the Poston’s Chapel Community Church. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thadeous and Ovis Reeder; daughter, Jo Ellen Davenport; and brother, Comer Dennis Reeder.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Mary Helen Stacy Reeder of Hilham; sons, Allon C. Reeder, Jr. and wife Tina of Monroe, Jeffery and wife Shannon Stacy of Lebanon and Charles and wife Shay Ridner of Hilham; daughter, Betty and husband Tom Shackleton of Lebanon; brothers, Kenneth and wife Elizabeth Reeder of Nashville, Arvil Reeder of Hilham and Johnny and wife Mary Jo Reeder of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gwen Carter Lynn

Retired Factory Worker

Gwen Carter Lynn, 91, of Gainesboro passed away Dec. 22 at Alive Hospice Skyline Madison Campus. Funeral services were held Dec. 26 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bob Chaffin and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Chaffin Cemetery.

Gwen Carter Lynn was born Dec. 19, 1921 in Jackson County. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hobert and Emily Avo McCoin Carter; husband, Albert Rogers Lynn; son, David Carter Lynn; grandson, Jason Rogers Lynn; and brothers, Grady L. Carter and Joseph B. Carter.

Surviving relatives include: her son, Bob R. Lynn of Gainesboro; daughter, Betty Lynn Apple of Madison; grandchildren, Terry and wife Glenda Apple, Christopher Apple, Melanie Lynn Burd, D’na Lynn and Marlana Lemmons; great-grandchildren, Reed Apple, Logan Apple, Hunter Gregory, Alex Burd, Ryley Burd, Evan McClinnis, Nicholas Lemmons, Ethyn Dyer and Ayden Dyer; and sisters, Molene Holt of Donelson and O’Geal and husband Joe Huffine of Goodlettsville.

Daniel O. Thomas

Daniel O. Thomas, a long time employee of American Airlines passed away suddenly Dec. 21 at his home in Whitleyville. He was born in New York City and was a long time resident of East Meadow and former resident of Franklin Square, NY and Old Hickory.

Danny is survived by his children, Linda Kelly (John), Daniel, Joyce McMurphy (Gregory), Steven (Linda) and David (Peggi); stepchildren, Carl “Chip” Zendler, Susan Brigio (Artie), Ruth Shugart (Calvin) and Nancy Zendler. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tonya Lopez (Rey), Keara Kelly, Brian and Caitlyn Thomas, Jennifer, Daniel and Dianna Brigio and Joe Owens.

His wife, Elizabeth “Bette” Thomas; his infant daughter, Diane; and grandson, Brendan Kelly preceded him in death.

Danny was cremated according to his wishes. A memorial service was held Dec. 28 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, who was in charge of arrangements.

Georgette Jamil Farran

Homemaker

Georgette Jamil Farran, 76, of San Jose, CA passed away Dec. 26 at San Tomas Convalescence Home. Funeral services were held Jan. 1 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Arlon Way officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill-Flatt Cemetery.

Georgette Jamil Farran was born April 14, 1935 in Lebanon. She was a homemaker. She lived in Tennessee from 1983 until 1987 at which time she moved to California. All of her children graduated from Tennessee Tech University.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Angela KaRouta Christophi; and husband, Jamil K. Farran.

Surviving relatives include: her sons, Hany Farran, Emile Farran, William Farran, Samir Farran and Albert Farran; daughter, Ghada Farran; grandchildren, Johnny, Ashley, James, Christopher and Nichole; and siblings, Nicholas, Gabby and Jeanette.

We would like to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness, thoughts and prayers during the loss of our loved ones. A special thanks to the many doctors and ICU nurses (Emily and Emily) at Cookeville Regional Hospital for their care and concern for Faye. A special thanks to all of the nurses at Caris Health Care that were so kind and giving to Mike. We would like to thank Bangham Heights Baptist Church and the Dodson Branch Community for the food and prayers. Words cannot express how much we appreciate everyone who helped us at this difficult time.
