Phil Stephens, 53, of Celina passed away Jan. 23 at his residence. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Luke Collins officiating. Cremation was chosen.
Pallbearers included: Brian Truman, Josh Truman, Cory Stephens, Clint McLerran, Jason Thompson and Nolan Dale.
Phil Stephens was born March 1, 1958 in Jackson County. He worked as a residential carpenter and a gunsmith. He served for many years as an Election Commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Herman and Virginia Christine Rich Stephens; and infant son, Cale Chantry Stephens.
Surviving relatives include: wife Bonnie A. McLerran Stephens; daughter, Rita Thompson; brother, Gary and wife Crys Stephens; sister, Melissa and husband Robert Truman; nieces and nephews, Misty Truman, Josh Truman, Cory Stephens, Brian Truman, Cade Truman, Justice Stephens and Clint McLerran.
Doris Swinford, 46, of Little Rock, AR passed away Jan. 21 at Circle of Life Hospice House. Cremation was chosen. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Women’s Building in Celina with Bro. Roger Gilbert officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ann Sheldon and James Leroy Swinford.
Surviving relatives include: daughters, Alicia Andrews of Fayetteville, AR and Crystal Sandlin of Cookeville; son, Rodney Bunt, Jr. of Bryant, AR; sister, Becky Reed of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Jeff Swinford and Randy Curran both of Little Rock, AR; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Billy Chavis of Celina.
Dorchie Joines York
Dorchie Joines York, 101, of Red Boiling Springs passed away Jan. 21 at her niece’s residence in Lafayette. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 from the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Lee officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Anderson and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers included: Don Joines, Fay Joines, Jerry Joines, Don Litchford, Steve Butler and Jimmy Driver.
Dorchie Joines York was born Nov. 14, 1910 in Macon County. She was a homemaker, a salesclerk for many years and a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edison and Clarkie Susan Canada Joines; husband, Fay R. York; and brothers, Porter, Raymond, Crit, Witt, Monty and Estes Joines.
Surviving relatives include: nieces, Erma Nell Wix and Rue Nell Butler both of Lafayette, Jo Knight of Hermitage Springs, Dinky Jenkins of Red Boiling Springs, Edith Bean of Donelson and Patsy Litchford of Hendersonville; nephews, Don Joines and Jerry Joines both of Mt. Juliet and Fay Joines of Lafayette; and several great nieces and nephews.
Irene Murley, 89, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Jan. 22 at Clinton County Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 24 from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home with Willie Kerr officiating. Interment followed in the Shorts Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Kevin Louis, Ronnie Charles Fetting, Scott Fetting, Max Corsaro, Kelly Crawford and Jimmy Russell.
Irene Murley was born Feb. 19, 1922 in Monroe County, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ashlock Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hunter and Ada Crawford Dodson; brothers, Millard Ray and Roy Denton Dodson; and sisters, Geneva Bryan, Paula Blythe and Shelby Jean Russell.
Surviving relatives include: son, Paul and wife Peggy Murley of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Debbie Ann and husband Donnie Turner, Paula Gean and husband John Corsard and Donna Sue and husband Scott Fetting; and five great grandchildren.
Ola Murlene Watson
Ola Murlene Watson, 90, of Celina passed away Jan. 18 at Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 21 from the Rock Springs Church of Christ. Interment followed in the Watson Cemetery. Upton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers included: Nathan Watson, Brandon Langford, Brian Watson, Zach Bell, Jake Chapman, Dave Andrews and Wayne Allen Watson.
Ola Murlene Watson was born Feb. 10, 1921 in Clay County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rock Springs Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard Cordell and Delia Ann Daniels Watson; husband, J.D. Watson; brothers, Jack, Arkley, R.T. and Demus Watson; sisters, Georgia Adams and Iva Kuhn; and grandchildren, Kyle and Kari Wilson.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Harlan D. and wife Cecilia Watson and Jesse Eugene and wife Rose Watson all of Camby, IN and Tony Ray and wife Debbie Watson of Nashville, IN; daughters, Beverly Ruth and husband Aaron Wilson of Fortville, IN and Theresa Lynn and husband John Thompson of Celina; brother, Remus Watson of Celina; sisters, Ina Cunningham of Indianapolis, IN and Jolly Anderson of Camby, IN; grandchildren, Brian Dee and wife Heather Watson, Amanda Rae Watson, Amy Michelle Watson, Brandi Nicole and husband Brandon Langford, Lani Raquel and husband Jake Chapman, Nathan Bradley Watson and Nicole Marie Watson; and two great grandchildren.
