Dennis Odell Moore

Dennis Odell Moore, 71 of Moss, passed away Nov. 8 at Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Moore Cemetery in Moss.

He was born Dec. 15, 1944 in Monroe County, Ky. He worked for 15 years at Richardson Rubber where he was a proud member of the United American Worker’s Union and retired from Osh Kosh B’Gosh in Celina. He took pride involving his grandsons in many activities and attended the Old Fashioned Missionary Baptist Church in Moss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lecta (White) Moore.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 46 years, Eva Moore of Moss; daughters, Amy (Boddie) Strong of Celina and Amanda Scott of Cookeville; grandsons, Ben Strong and Tucker Scott; brothers and sisters in law, Billy, Joe, Cecil and James Moore of Tompkinsville, Ky, A.D. (Pat) Moore of Indanapolis, Ind., Delmas (Linda) Moore of Smithville; sisters, Dorothy (Allen) Booher and Joyce (Wayne) King of Tompkinsville, Ky, Rita (Jeff) Whaley of Celina; and special brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Carl Philpott Sr.

Carl Philpott Sr., 72 of Celina, passed away on Nov. 4 at Celina Health and Rehab surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at Upton-Hay Funeral Home in Celina with Bro. Neal Pipkin and Bro. Bobby Bartlett officiating. Interment followed in the Fitzgerald Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 12, 1944 in Clay County. Throughout his life he served in many roles including: husband, father and a friend to many. He was a plumber and barber for most of his adult career and a member of the Free Hills Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton “Big” Page Sr. and Esterlene Philpott; son, Gary Philpott; an infant daughter, Vicky Hill; brothers, Clifton “Sambo” Page Jr., Chester Page and Gary “Ebo” Page; sisters, Carolyn Bailey, Faye Page and Gail Page.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Wilma Philpott of Celina; sons, Carl Philpott Jr. of Celina and Sammy Tooley of Tompkinsville, Ky.; stepson, Ryan Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughters, Ashley Page of Celina, Elana Sircy of Lafayette and Lanessa Page of Celina; brothers, Jimmy Philpott of Celina, Ollie Page of Celina, Tony Page of Nashville and Jamie (Deno) Page of Nashville; sisters, Melanie Kirk of Celina, Elvena House of Celina and Charlene Page of Nashville; grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Nikki, Kyla, Kyeshia and Jermey; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Nathan and Bentley; special nieces and nephews; special stepson and friend, Ryan Johnson; two special granddaughters, Nikki Huntley and Alexis Page.

Mazell (Killmon) Savage

Jewell Mazell (Killmon) Savage, 80 of Celina, passed away on Nov. 7 at Signature Health and Rehab in Algood. Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at Hall Funeral Home. Interment followed at the New Hope Cemetery. Michael Savage, Jimmy Russell, Ted Rich, James Hill Holman, Larry Cole, Steven Hicks, Randy Davis and Justin Strong served as pallbearers.

She was born on April 1, 1936 in Celina. She was a factory worker and a member of the New Hope Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Bessie Lena (Smith) Killmon; sisters, Macie and Maggie Killmon; brother, Raymond Killmon.

Surviving relatives include her son, Rick Savage of Celina; sister, Hazel Hughes of Crossville; and granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Dunn.

Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Betty Sue Strong

Betty Sue Strong, 84 of Moss, passed away Nov. 5 at Celina Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held Nov. 11 at Hall Funeral Home of Celina.

She was born June 25, 1932 in Livingston. She was a cafeteria worker for the Clay County Board of Education for many years and a member of the Celina First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elmo (Smith) Smith; husband, Oliver Strong; daughter, Cynthia Strong; son in law, Michael Hayes; brothers, Junior, Ray and Bill Smith; sisters, Shelia Wilmoth, Madge Norrod, Nell Ferrell and Ruth Ferrell.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Sue Ellen Barlow of Celina and LeeAnn Strong-Hayes of Moss; brother, David Smith of Nashville; sisters, Edith Roberts of Hardy’s Chapel Community and Ruby Sells of Chattanooga; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
