Alice June Boyd
Alice June Boyd, 82, formerly of Hilham and Anderson, Ind., passed away Nov. 21 in Johnson City, Tenn. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Interment followed in the Campground Cemetery. She was born April 5, 1934 in Overton County. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1952. After a career in civil service, she retired in 1988 from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fowler Elmo and Elese Lynn Boyd. Surviving relatives include her sisters, Judith Ann (Larry) McCoy of Anderson, Ind. and Betty Louise Fiscalini of Bristol, Va.; nephews, Scott (Mercedes) McCoy of Corpus Christi, Tex. and Darren (Amy) Fiscalini of Gilbert, Ariz.; nieces, Jamie (Richard) Hedge and Michelle (Kevin) Hipskind, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Kimberly (Rick) Harvey of Westfield, Ind. and Kelly (Ryan) Smith of Paso Robles, Calif.; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
Phyllis June Norrod, 74, of the Hanging Limb community, passed away Nov. 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Bro. Bennie Sells officiating. Interment followed in the George M. Phillips Cemetery. She was born April 30, 1942 in Overton County. She was a nurse at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilation Center for 17 years. Prior to that, she ran Norrod’s Grocery Store and was a factory worker in the garment industry. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.H. and Erna Handy Ledbetter; husband, Harold Norrod; sister, Anna Carr; brother, J.M. Ledbetter; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Norrod. Surviving relatives include her sons, David (Pam) Norrod of Monterey, Billy Norrod of Hanging Limb and Terry Norrod of the Vine Ridge community; granddaughter, Layah Howard; sisters, Dimple (Ted) Ledbetter of Livingston, Janet (Aaron) Poston of Alpine and Pam (Gary) Harris of Rickman; and brother, Leo (Barbara) Ledbetter of Alpine.
Earl Veon Hargis, 69, of Baxter and formerly of Overton County, passed away Nov. 25 at the Centennial Medical Center. A Celebration of Life service was held Nov. 28 from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Harris officiating. He was born Nov. 21, 1947 in Overton County. He was a self-employed dozer worker. He was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Burren Hargis and Bess Deck Hargis; brother, Ronnie “Possum” Hargis; sisters, Betty Harris, Imogene Ogletree, Sue Moss and Leva May Hargis. Surviving relatives include his wife, Charlene Morgan Hargis; daughters, Amie Hargis of Baxter and Christy Stooksberry of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Terry Hutchison of Livingston, grandchildren, Seth, Brooklyn, Shayla and Bryson Hutchison, Trent and Alie Price, Cassie and Katelin Stooksberry and Cody Watts; brothers, Paul Hargis, Odis Hargis, Junior B. Hargis, Jack Hargis, Bill Hargis and Tom Hargis; and sisters, Lois Cross, Debbie Jones and Vic Birdwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the family by contacting Livingston Funeral Home.
Benny Curtis Harvey, 68 of Monroe, passed away Nov. 22 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. A.J. Looper officiating. Interment followed in the Fellowship Cemetery in Allons. He was born in Monroe on Oct. 28, 1948. He attended the Antioch Church of Christ and worked as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Curtis and Vurlla Mae Taylor Harvey; and his brother-in-law, Ranzel Hummel. Surviving relatives include his wife, Helen Glenda Harvey of Monroe; son, Kenny Micheal Harvey of Monroe; daughters, Monica Jill Harvey and Casey Lynn Harvey, both of Livingston; granddaughters, Elizabeth Nicole Harvey of Livingston and Sarah Rose Harvey of Byrdstown; sister, Barbara June (Arnold) Garrett of Livingston; brother, Donnie Harvey of Byrdstown; uncle, Raymond Taylor of Livingston; aunts, Leora Reagan of Chesterfield, Ind. and Ruby Dean Smith of Monroe; niece, Dana Walters of Lafollette, Tenn.; and nephews, Nicky Harvey of Rickman and David Garrett of Cookeville. From his wife’s side of the family, surviving relatives include sisters-in-law, Brenda Huffer of Livingston and Yvonne Smith of Anderson, Ind; brothers-in-law, Melvin (Betty) Hummel and Hollis (Ann) Hummel, all of Allons; and nieces and nephews, Jimmy Daniels, Joey Daniels, Jeff Hummel, Pamela Breeding, Tammy Sidwell, Kimberly Byers, Charlene Brinkley and Pat Wools.
Gregory “better known at 40” Geesling, 50, of Hilham, passed away Nov. 22 at the Livingston Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with Bro. Marty Carr officiating. The family has chosen cremation. He was born in Livingston on March 13, 1966. He worked construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy E. and Udean Tays Geesling; brothers, Wayne Geesling and Tommy Geesling, both of Hilham; and grandparents, Joseph and Pete Geesling, Beve and Nancy Tays . Surviving relatives include the mother of his daughter, Loretta Geesling of Hilham; daughter, Alyicia Ann Geesling of Hilham; grandson, Durell Allen Lee Dulworth of Hilham; sisters, Brenda Ledbetter of Knoxville, Lisa Jordan of Rickman and Robbie Cole of Allons; brother, Jimmy Geesling of Hilham; 11 nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews and a host of aunts and uncles. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please make donations toward funeral expenses.
