Shirley Hevle

Club Owner

Shirley Hevle, 74, passed away June 10 at her residence. The family has chosen cremation. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Porterville, Ca. She was a club owner and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Anna Harrison; husband, Larry Hevle; two sisters, Betty Layes and Joann Roberts; three brothers, Bob Harrison, Jerry Harrison and Gary Harrison.

Surviving relatives include one son, John Jeffrey Boggess of Gainesboro; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Jackson of Gainesboro; one brother, Don Harrison; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 12 nephews and nieces; 26 great nephews and nieces; 20 great-great nephews and nieces.

 

Emogene Dixon

Emogene Dixon, 90, passed away June 8 at Woodbury Health Care Center. Funeral services were held June 11 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with son-in-law Edward L. Anderson and grandsons-in-law, Mark Denning and Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Interment followed at Gene Butler Cemetery in Brooks Bend. Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Sept. 29, 1926 in Nashville. She was a longtime homemaker. She was retired from W.E. Stephens Manufacturing Co. and Carthage and Colonial Manufacturing Co. in Gainesboro. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Howard Graham and Helen Edith White Graham; her husband, William Bedford Dixon; siblings, Cornelia Graham Burton, Creola Graham Fisher, Wilma Dean Graham Montgomery, Alonzo, John, James and Leo Cleveland Graham.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Barbara Dixon (Edward) Anderson; two granddaughters, Amanda Anderson (Mark) Denning of Lebanon and Aletha Anderson (Michael) Thomas of Woodbury; four great grandchildren, Andrew Joel Denning, Jackson Edward Thomas, Nancy Caroline Chaffin Thomas and Sadie Emogene Thomas.

 

J.B. Brown

J.B. Brown, 87, passed away June 6 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held June 9 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Burton and Bro. Jackie Dillehay officiating. Interment followed at Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Nov. 15, 1929 in Jackson County. He was a lifelong farmer and served in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cancel Earl Brown and Golden Huffines Brown.

His only immediate survivor is his wife of 54 years, Allie Ruth Smith Brown.
