Tiewonia “TJ” Roberts

Certified Nurse’s Aide

Tiewonia “TJ” Roberts, 74, passed away July 3 at NHC Health Care Center. Funeral services were held July 6 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Elder Bennie Maggart officiating. Interment followed at Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 16, 1942 in Lenoir City, Tenn. She was a certified nurse’s aid at Carthage General Hospital and a member of the Wartrace United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clifford Walker, Sr. and Hazel Manis Walker, her husband, Jimmy Joe Roberts Sr., one brother, James Clifford “JC” Walker Jr.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Jimmy (Kim) Roberts of Hendersonville and Daryl (Shelia) Roberts of Gainesboro; one daughter, Gina (Bob) Stangenberg of Carthage; five grandchildren, Kayla (Johnny) Bostic, Jared (Audra) Stangenberg, Matthew Roberts, D.J. Roberts, and Evan Roberts; one great grandchild, Carter Joe Stangenberg; two brothers, Harold Walker of Lenoir City and Billy Walker of Lenoir City.

 

Garlene Hawkins Gentry

Homemaker

Garlene Hawkins Gentry, 65, passed away July 6 at her residence. Funeral services were held July 8 at Double Springs Church of Christ with Bro. Mike Webb and Bro. Eric Collins officiating. Interment followed at Granville Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 16, 1952 in Gainesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Hawkins and Philip Gentry; her father, Garlin Mathis; one brother-in-law, Jerry Carter.

Surviving relatives include one son, Kevin Hawkins of Baxter; one step-daughter, Melissa Gentry Walker of Hilham; mother, Manda Mathis of Baxter; four grandchildren, Morgan Hawkins, Brooke Walker, Madison Hawkins, and Paige Walker; one expected great grandchild, Sawyer Lamb; two sisters, Pam Carter of Baxter and Annettea (Joe) Neal of Granville; one brother, Rodney (Donna) Mathis of Bloomington Springs; one special pet, Taco; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
