Donald Pharris

Farmer

Donald Pharris, 80, passed away Oct. 29 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage. Funeral services were held Nov. 3 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Edward L. Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Vinson Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Moore. Pallbearers were Alan Pippin, Gregg Norton, Nick Norton, Ronnie Hoffman, Jack Brown, Carl Haile and Aaron Stout. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Aug. 11, 1937 in Jackson County. He was a farmer and a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Pharris and Prudie Lambert Pharris; two brothers, Kenneth Pharris and George Raymond Pharris; three sisters, Estelle Ramey, Lydia Sue Stephens and Adelle Pharris.

Surviving relatives include several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bonnie Juanita Phann

Bonnie Juanita Phann, 70, passed away Oct. 30 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Nov. 3 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Pharris Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 15, 1947 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was a very generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack A. Phann; parents, Sam and Hallie Biggs Stafford; three brothers, George Dillard Stafford, Sam Dow Stafford and Daniel Lee Stafford; three sisters, JoHelen Hammock, Mae Ellen Mayberry and Frankie Keith.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Mack (Kimberly) Phann and Michael (Kathy Horn) Phann, all of Baxter; one daughter, Kathy Leasure of Wayne, MI; four grandchildren, Tia Phann, Taylor Phann, Trenten Phann and Maddie Horn; two great grandchildren, Khloe Phann and Lola Rose Phann; two brothers, Jack Stafford and Paul (Moline) Stafford, all of Gainesboro; two sisters, Sarah Harp of Sparta and Janie Uhles of Smith County.

Waymond Lee Smith

Waymond Lee Smith, 60, passed away Nov. 1 at Mabry Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Philip Morgan officiating. Interment followed at Smith Cemetery at New Hope. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Jan. 13, 1957 in Jackson County. He was a mechanic and school bus driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Norma Jean Smith; one brother, Gerald Smith; one nephew, Gerald Dewayne Smith.

Surviving relatives include three brothers, Roger Smith of Cookeville, Phillip Smith of Hilham and Alan Smith of Hilham; one sister, Ellen Bilbrey of Hilham; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty Merlene Brown

Betty Merlene Brown, 80, passed away Nov. 2 at Mabry Health Care Center. The family has chosen cremation. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Dec. 26, 1936 in Jackson County. She was a factory worker and a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.H. and Ova Scantland; one sister, Lois Lee.

Surviving relatives include one son, Ricky Brown of Gainesboro; two daughters, Kimberly Thacker of Burkesville, KY and Pam Stewart of Gainesboro; two brothers, Harold Scantland of Ohio and Randy Scantland of Ohio; five sisters, Maidy Moody of Gainesboro, Carol Taulbee of Ohio, Wanda Wilson of Gallatin, Ann Wilson of Ohio and Brenda Auberson of Livingston; special friends, Wanda Hix and Suzanne Thornton; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
