Ronald Edward Arnold, 67, passed away Dec. 1 at Bethesda Health Care Center. The family has chosen cremation with interment at a later time in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 27, 1950 in Asheville, NC. He was an automotive maintenance technician.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Arnold and Lucy Dean Sawyer.
Surviving relatives include cousins, Luis Hix of Gainesboro and Ethel (Carl) Reagan of Cookeville.
Robert Lee Gentry
Robert Lee Gentry, 86, passed away Dec. 1 at Highpoint Hospice in Gallatin. Funeral services were held Dec. 4 at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Interment followed at Gene Butler Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community. Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 4, 1931 in Gainesboro. He was retired from International Sheet Metal Workers Union #177 with thirty-seven years of service. He was a member of the Maggart United Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aviret B. Gentry and Alva C. Hix Gentry; sisters, Ruby Gentry Garner and Stella Gentry Allen; brothers, Paul Gentry and Dale Gentry; half-sister, Ethel Brazzell; half-brother, Donald Gentry; wife of over sixty-seven years, Reba Jean Cook Gentry.
Surviving relatives include daughters, Nancy (Mike) Gilbert, Kathie Johnson, and Garol Gibson; sisters, Gayle Gentry (Bobby) Boyle and Faye Gentry (Alan) Lynch; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

We would like to say thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and kindness given to our family. We would also like to express a thank you to Cookeville Regional Hospital, doctors and staff for taking such wonderful care of not only Merle, but the family also while in their care. A special thank you to Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home for helping the family say our goodbyes, while always remembering how much Merle will be loved and missed. Also thanks to Bro. Ronel D. Hawkins, SMSgt. (Ret.) USAF
Ronel D. Hawkins, 79, passed away Dec. 7 at Kirkwood Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Dec. 13 at Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held with full military honors on Dec. 20 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Lux Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 13, 1938 in Jackson County. He retired after 22 years of dedicated, honorable service in the US Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. He was mechanically inclined and loved to build things.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hawkins and Lillie Gentry Hawkins; sisters, Daffo West, Doyce Smith, Agnes Hogg and Navoy Cassetty; brothers, J.V. Hawkins and Bill Fred Hawkins.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 56 years, Janice Hawkins, children, Natalie Hawkins, Michelle Smith, and Scott (Jessica) Hawkins; grandchildren, Mason, Madison and Megan Hawkins and Jacob (Vivian) Smith; great grandchildren, Cora and Sol Smith; brother, Earl Kinner Hawkins; sister, Harriett Cofer.
