Margaret Haile Hix

Teacher

Margaret Haile Hix, 95, passed away Dec. 20 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Edward L. Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 6, 1922 in Jackson County. She was a teacher in the Jackson County School system for 30 years. She was a member of the Flynn’s Creek Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Haile and Jewel Brown Haile; her husband, Ray O. Hix.

Surviving relatives include daughter, Cathey Hix (Gerry) Brown of Parker, CO; granddaughter, Jessica Brown (Malcolm) Young of Arvada, CO.

Elmer Dale Dawes

Elmer Dale Dawes, 73, passed away Dec. 26 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Danny Scott officiating. Interment followed at Peek Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 18, 1944 in Jackson County. He was the co-owner of Faye’s Café. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved working on his 77 Ford and loved talking and visiting will all who came into the restaurant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Arie B. Dawes; brothers, Austin, Vesper, Claudine, Lewis, and Bobby Dawes; sister, Martha L. Scantland; grandson, Jimmy Moss; great granddaughter, Sarah Grace.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Faye G. Dawes of Gainesboro; son, Troy (Debbie) Dawes of Bethpage, TN; daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Pryor of Gainesboro and Tresa (Stacy) Davis of Hermitage Springs, TN; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; special pet, Lucy.

Billy Gene Harrington

Billy Gene Harrington, 83, passed away Dec. 24 at his home in Granville. A Celebration of Life will be held Jan. 14 at the Granville United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Little officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Crest Lawn Funeral Home-Cremation Center.

He was born June 27, 1934 in Columbus, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Adein (Beasley) and Ellis Grover Harrington.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 23 years, Betsy Bomar Harrington; sons, David Ace Harrington, John Ellis Harrington and Mark Allen (Jess) Harrington; step daughter, Jessica (Pat) Duggan; grandchildren, Tina (Brian) Hockman, Lauren Harrington and Daniel Harrington; step grandchildren, Ashton Duggan and Jackson Duggan.
