Janet M. Crooker
Janet M. Crooker, 76, passed away Jan. 25 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
She was born March 13, 1941 in Orlando, Fla.. She was retired from Crotty. She donated her body to science in hopes of helping others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Dorothy McDougle; her husband, Robert C. Crooker Jr.
Surviving relatives include son, Robert C. “Chuck” Crooker III of Whitleyville; daughter, Kimberly A. Crooker of Whitleyville; grandchildren, Robert C. Crooker IV and Anna Pearl Crooker; mother of her grandchildren, Michelle Crooker of Gainesboro.
Zelma Mae Phillips
Zelma Mae Phillips, 86, passed away Feb. 1 at her daughter’s residence. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Boles and Bro. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Old Antioch Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 18, 1931 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Burristown Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maggie Waddell Scantland; her husband, William Odell “Boots” Phillips; brothers, Jimmy, Johnny, Ed, Charles, and Billy B. Scantland; sisters, Frances Trisdale and Mattie Scantland.
Surviving relatives include daughter, Cathy Phillips of Gainesboro; grandsons, Scottie Pennington of Gainesboro and Jamie (Jennifer) Pennington of Springfield; great grandchildren, Corey, Reese, Katie and Allye Pennington; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Scantland of Warren, Mich.
