Martha Ann Brown Loftis, 67, passed away April 20, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. The family has chosen cremation. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 30, 1950 in Jackson County. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ. She loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Brown and A.V. Johnson Brown; sister, Cora Elizabeth Garrett; and brothers, Gary Lee Brown and Ronnie Wayne Brown.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Kenneth Edward Loftis; son, Robbin C. Loftis of Bloomington Springs; daughter, Amanda Kathalean Elliott-Edwards of Silver Point; grandchildren, William Perry Elliott III, Annabelle Elizabeth Elliott and Kenneth Lee Edwards; brothers, Jerry Brown and Ricky Brown, both of Baxter; sisters, Janice Haugk of Silver Point, Versie Derossitt of Silver Point, Margie Moore of Sparta and Mary Rodgers of Gainesboro and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Evelyn Phann Barlow

Evelyn Phann Barlow, 88, passed away on April 20, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on April 23 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro Bobby Scantland officiating. Interment followed in the Old Antioch Cemetery. Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

She was born March 3, 1930 in Jackson County. She was a factory worker, homemaker and a member of the Burristown Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Major Phann and Julie Smith Phann Nelson; her husband, Dalton Dual Barlow; and brothers, Warren, Reggie, Mark and Mack Phann.

Surviving relatives include, son, Sammy Ray (Gail) Barlow of Hilham; daughters, Carol Tramel of Lebanon and Shirley (Wayne “Red”) Bull of Willis, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren and sisters, Mildred Cook of Canton, Mich. and Chloe Stafford or Warren, Mich.

Charlotte Moore Cody

Charlotte Moore Cody, 57, passed away on April 20 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held on April 23 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Anderson officiating. The family has chosen cremation.

She was born Aug. 10, 1960 in Murphysboro, Ill. She was a clerical worker and enjoyed organizing the annual Eaton Christmas toy drive. She enjoyed volunteering in other community efforts, loved the beach and wanted to wish everyone one more time roll tide!

She was preceded in death by a special great niece, Makenzie Johnson.

Surviving relatives include her parents, Bill and Mary Martin of Gainesboro; husband, Chip Cody of Gainesboro; son, Damon Moore of Gainesboro; daughter, Julie Cody of Ridge Farm, Ill.; grandchildren, Taylor Cody, Blake Shaw, Jack Cody and Kinley Moore; brothers, Chris (Tina) Martin of Iola, Kan., Jim (Carmel) Martin of Haleyville, Ala. and Mark (Carrie) Martin of Crossville; sister, Angela (Rick) Hardesty of Gainesboro and daughter in law, Marquita Kita Moore. Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Stephanie Flatt Combs

Stephanie Flatt Combs, 44, passed away on April 23 at Curahealth Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services were held on April 26 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Scantland, Tyler West and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery in Gainesboro.

She was born June 27, 1973in Gainesboro. She was a secretary in the healthcare industry and an inspirational member of Poston’s Chapel Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Flatt and a granddaughter, Emorie West.

Surviving relatives include her mother, Janice Flatt Chaffin, of Gainesboro; husband, Rickey Combs of Gainesboro; daughter, Taylor West of Cookeville; grandchildren, Camden Ferguson, who called her mommy, Carter West and Evelynn West; brother, Chris Flatt, of Gainesboro; sister, Melissa (Tim) Scott; of Gainesboro and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Susan E. Bowman

Factory Worker

Susan E. Bowman, 88, passed away on April 25 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on April 28 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the John L. Clark Cemetery in Gainesboro.

She was born on May 9, 1929 in Gainesboro. She was a factory worker in the garment industry. She loved gardening and growing flowers and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Bessie Lee Jenkins; her husband, Tom Joe Bowman; brothers, Lee, Robert and Wayne Jenkins; sisters, Ruth Short, Stella Wims and Rosa Nell Zuerlein and granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicole Chinoy.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Jodie Bowman of Gainesboro, Kathy (David) Haynie of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Peggy Bowman of Madison, AL and Sandy (Donnie) Ragland of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Randy Beach, Matthew (Hannah) Cunningham, Suzie Bowman, Andrew Grisham, Alex (Teola) Ragland and Lincoln (Alyssa) Ragland; great grandchildren, Kaya, Landon, Emma, Wyatt and Reaelyn; brother, Royce (Linda) Jenkins of Gainesboro; sister, Jo Helen Brown of Gainesboro; brother in law, Claude (Betty) Bowman; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
