Christine Jones

Garment Worker

Christine Jones, 90, passed away on May 8 at NHC Health Care of Cookeville. Funeral services were held on May 10 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Edward L. Anderson and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone Community.

She was born May 5, 1928 in Jackson County. She was a garment factory worker and homemaker and a member of the Morrison Creek Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dallas B. Loftis and Gennette “Nette” Loftis and sisters, Glenda McBroom and Lois Loftis.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Horace Jones of Gainesboro; son, David and wife, Pamela Jones of Chattanooga; daughter, Peggy and husband, Brian Denton of Carthage; grandchildren, Ethan Denton and Emma Denton; nephew, Tony and wife, Gayla McBroom; great great niece Jocey McBroom; several cousins; and many friends.

Helen “Cookie” Vinson Bellar

Former Restaurant Owner

Helen “Cookie” Vinson Bellar, 71, passed away on May 8 at her residence. Funeral services were held on May 10 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Duane Gossett officiating. Interment followed in the Curry’s Chapel Cemetery in Jackson County.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1946 in Granville. She was the former owner of Helen’s Restaurant in Gainesboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett Vinson Sr. and Hatha Mae Burgess Vinson; brothers, Garrett Vinson, Jr., Harold Vinson, Charles Vinson and Carl Vinson; and sisters, Milse and her husband, Charlie Butler, Ann Vinson and Katherine Vinson.

Surviving relatives include daughters, Carol Bellar and husband, Terry Pippin of Bloomington Springs and Tonya Jean Bellar and husband Steve Stafford of Gainesboro; her children’s father, Gene Bellar of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Christin Widner, Kayla Widner, Casey Stafford, Kendall Pippin and Candice Stafford; great grandchild, Blaine Hamlet, brother Bobby and wife, Betsy Vinson of Santa Claus, Ind. and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry “Curly” Franklin

Retired Farmer

Larry “Curly” Franklin, 70, passed away May 8 at the Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services and interment were held on May 10 at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Smith County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie B. Franklin and Cloe Lucille Thompson Franklin; wife, Robbie June Givens; son, Shannon Brian “Shagg” Franklin; stepson, Jason Charles Lee; sisters, Linda Franklin, Pamela Sue Franklin, Kathy Evyone Moss; sons Buford Clyde Franklin and L.B. Franklin.

Surviving relatives include sisters, Janie Franklin Creswell of Lebanon, Carnell Franklin Climer and husband, Bobby of Elmwood Community, Patricia Franklin Montgomery and husband, David of Lebanon, Vickie Franklin Allen and husband Larry, of Cookeville; and brothers, Glen Franklin and wife, Pam of Gainesboro and Stanley Franklin of Carthage.
