Shirley Woodard

Shirley Woodard, 72, of the Brooks Bend Community, passed away on Aug. 12 at the Cumberland River Hospital. Funeral services were held on Aug. 26 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Interment followed in the Gene Butler Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community.

She was a longtime restaurateur in Lebanon owning Tandy’s Super Dog before retiring to Brooks Bend and owning and operating the Best O’ Luck Antiques in Gainesboro. She was a member of the Gainesboro Chapter #503, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Thelma Hagler; husband, Bradford Denson “Brad” Woodard; brothers, Bobby Bates and John Thomas Bates.

Surviving relatives include her daughters, Tandy Woodard Smith and husband, Mike of the Gladdice Community, Barbara Williams and husband, Al of Watertown, Judy Stafford and husband, Ronnie of Mt. Juliet; brother, Cecil Hagler of Smyrna; grandchildren, Vince Stafford, Jr. and wife Tandi, Megan Robins and husband Brent, Brandy Hillis and husband, Eric; and seven great grandchildren.

 

Louis “JR” Spivey

Louis “JR” Spivey, 64, of Gainesboro, passed away on Aug. 26, at his residence. The family has chosen cremation, with no service at this time.

He was born Sept. 13, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio. He was a high tech industrial maintenance worker in the woodworking industry and loved to ride his Harley.

He ware preceded in death by his parents, Louis E. Spivey, Sr. and Delight Cummins Hull and brother, Anthony Spivey.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lynn Spivey of Gainesboro; son, Casey Slater of Ill.; sisters, Edna Mayberry and Chesta Loftis, both of Gainesboro.

 

Joe Christopher Scott

Joe Christopher Scott, 53, of Hilham, passed away on Aug. 27, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Aug. 31 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Bright officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery in Jackson County.

He was born July 23, 1965 in Gainesboro. He was an automotive factory worker and a member of the Dodson Branch Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Lushion Scott and Mary Alice Scott; brother, Edgar Lushion Scott; nephew, Terry Michael Hoskins and niece, Cheri Elise Crabtree.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Renea Scott of Hilham; sons, Joe Scott II, Jonathon Scott and Austin Scott, all of Hilham; daughters, Tasha Scott and husband, Jesse Fuller of Granville and Amber Tovar and husband, Josh of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Cameron, Anna, Amelia, Joe III, Lyric, Emma, Savanna and Braxton; brother, Billy D. Scott of Cookeville; sisters, Debbie Scott of Livingston, Glenda Christian of Gainesboro and Teresia Scott of Livingston.

 

Patricia Ann Hudgins

Patricia Ann Hudgins, 65, of Hilham, passed away on Aug. 28, at her residence. Funeral services were held on Sept. 1 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Interment followed in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Jackson County.

She was born on July 28, 1953, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She worked as an assistant director of nursing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam S. Smith and Lottie Mae Smith; five brothers and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Roy Lonnie Hudgins of Hilham; son, Christopher Lonnie (Carla) Hudgins of Baxter; daughters: Lawana Dawn (Daniel) Webb of Hermitage, Amanda Mae Hudgins of Granville, Angela Faith Barrett of Lebanon and Andrea Hope (Jacob) Garza of Frisco, Texas; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five brothers; and a sister.
