Ernest “Bubba” Fox
Ernest “Bubba” Fox, 47, of Bloomington Springs passed away on Nov. 26 at his residence. Memorial services were held on Nov. 30 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. He had chosen cremation.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1971, in Cookeville. He worked in the logging industry.
He was preceded in death by father, John B. Fox and a sister, Frances “Tooter” Fox.
Surviving relatives include mother, Delores “Lois” Fox of Bloomington Springs; son, David Fox of Gainesboro; and sister, Lisa Fox of Bloomington Springs.
Joe B. Ward
Joe B. Ward, 83, of Gainesboro passed away on Nov. 24 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Nov. 26 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Edwin Sadler and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Anderson Cemetery in the Flynn’s Lick Community.
He was born July 11, 1935 in Warren County. He served for 12 years as the former Jackson County Circuit Court Clerk. He was a member of the Flynns Creek Church of Christ, and a charter member of the Jackson County Rescue Squad. He was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 429 at Flynns Lick, and the Civil Defense Director for Jackson County for several years.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Thomas “Tom” Ward and Ovie Lee Certain Ward; brother, Charlie W. Ward; and sisters, Anna Belle Lyles and Katherine Virginia Ward.
Surviving relatives include wife, Lizzie Ward of Gainesboro; sons, Jerry Ward of Cookeville and David (Darlene) Ward of Gainesboro; daughter, Tanya Ward and Don of Cookeville; grandson, Brandon (Sarah) Ward of Gainesboro; great granddaughter, Paisleigh Ward of Gainesboro; brother, W.M. (Ruby) Ward of Owens Crossroad, Ala; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Thomas Jefferson Choate
Thomas Jefferson Choate, 79, of Sparta passed away Nov. 29 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Dec. 1 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Daughrity officiating. Interment followed in the Sam Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Hwy.
He was born July 5, 1939 in Cookeville. He was retired from Chrysler and worked as an exterminator for Mid State Termite and Pest Control. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ned Lee Choate and Anna Burgess Choate; granddaughter, Alisha Marie Lewis; brother, Sam Choate; and sisters, Gladys Gunther, Jewell Sliger, Anna Lou Flatt and Mary Ruth Choate.
Surviving relatives include wife, Johnie Ruth Choate of Sparta; sons, Chris (Sherry) Choate of Nashville and Curtis John (Denise) Choate of Sparta; daughters, Cindy Kaye (David) Hughes of Cookeville and Chandra Renee Szela of Rickman; grandchildren, Candice Renee Alvarez, Christopher Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Kathleen Mudd and Alex Choate; great grandchildren, Braidyn, Ivy, Ireland and Sophia; and sister, Mary (Luther) Fuqua of Cookeville.
