Myrena Combs

Myrena Combs, 80, of Castalian Springs, formerly of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 25.

She was born May 15, 1938 in Millstone, Ky. She will be remembered for always putting other people’s needs before her own and will be deeply missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Marcus and Lillie Meade; daughter, Shelia Stacey; and siblings, Eleanor Craft, Lloyd Meade and Elmer Meade.

Surviving relatives include husband, Edward R. “Russ” Combs, Sr.: children, Mark Hammond of Dayton, Ohio, Rusty Combs of Gainesboro and Brian Combs (April) of Castalian Springs; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; and sister, Geneva Longworth.

Andy M. Scott

Andy M. Scott, 77, of Gainesboro passed away Jan. 29 at Mabry Health Care. Funeral services were held on Jan. 31 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Scott and Harold Scott officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery in the Fairview Community.

He was born April 30, 1941 in Gainesboro. He was retired from TDOT and a member of the Harmony Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by parents, Morgan Lee Scott and Mamie Martha Scott; daughter, Kristie Scott; brothers, Hamp Scott, Walton Scott and Curtis Scott; sisters, Mary Pound, Sally Masters and Myrtle Phillips; and step son, Ronnie Wilson Hicks, Jr.

Surviving relatives include wife, Anna Smith Scott of Gainesboro; sons, Tony Scott of Morristown, Greg Scott of Gainesboro and Shawn Scott of Silver Point; daughter, Lisa Sullivan and husband, Randy of Gainesboro; step daughter, Tonya Hicks of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Anthony Morgan Scott, Drew Parker Scott, Matthew Lee Scott, Megan Michelle Scott, Jessica R. Oakley, Brittany L. Franklin, Charlie S. Savage, Brandon D. Scott, Cameron Scott and Danielle Jewell Henry; great grandchildren, Parker Ray, Kenli, Xavier, Abigail, Oliver, Cooper, Ametria and Atrivum; brothers, Richard Scott of Gainesboro, Odell (Marie) Scott of the Dodson Branch Community and Jerry Scott of Gainesboro; and sisters, Matilda Stewart of Cookeville, Carolyn (Wade) Burris of Gainesboro and Cathy (Charles) Stafford of Algood.
