The Jackson County Mayor Randy Heady signed a proclamation April 1, 2019 to ensure all residents of Jackson County are counted in the upcoming 2020 Decennial Census. The proclamation designates the county as a partner with the U.S. Census Bureau by encouraging residents to participate through awareness efforts until the completion of the 2020 Census.
U.S. Census Data is used at a federal, state, and local level to help create proper apportionment for representation, voting districts. But more notably it helps with the distribution of more than $675 billion dollars annually in federal funding to states. The data collected in 2020 will also help Jackson County with future planning by local officials for community needs and services.
