Myrtle I. Emerton

Myrtle I. Emerton, 67, of Gainesboro, passed away June 5 at her residence. The family has chosen cremation, with no services at this time.

She was born June 17, 1951 in Harlan, KY. She worked as a waitress.

She was preceded in death by parents, James Ayers and Edith Ayers; and husband, Roger Emerton.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Donald Jackson and James Jackson, both of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Josh Jackson, Jodi Jackson, Joseph Jackson, Jacob Jackson, James Lamb and Shawn Lamb; great grandchildren, Landon Jackson and Kingsley Lamb; one brother; and two sisters.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Elizabeth Stafford

Margaret Elizabeth Stafford, 85, of Gainesboro, passed away June 3 at Mabry Health Care Center. Funeral services were held June 6 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Larry Stafford and Luke Hall officiating. Interment followed in the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community.

She was born Nov. 8, 1933 in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Heavy Duty and Crotty and member of Free State Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by parents, James F. Brown and Margie Ann Brown; husband, Eugene Stafford; sons, Bobby Gene Stafford and Danny Lee Stafford; brothers, Edward Brown, Joe Clyde Brown and James Leonard Brown; and sister, Doris Meadows.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Brenda Peek of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Toni Scantland, Amy Avent, Heather Stimits, Daniel Stafford, Matt Stafford and Andy Stafford; 10 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; brother, Albert Brown of Gainesboro; and daughter in law, Kim Stafford of Gainesboro.

Thank you for the love and comfort that you have shown our family during Mother’s illness and death. We have felt your prayers during this trying time, and those prayers have helped more that you will ever know. God blesses us with family and friends, and our family is truly blessed with wonderful caring and loving family and friends.
