Marion Hopkins

Marion Hopkins, 88, of Baxter, passed away June 12 at his residence. Funeral services were held June 14 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Brown and Hopkins Cemetery in the New Salem community.

He was born Nov. 9, 1930 in Jackson County. He worked as a farmer and logger and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert Lee Hopkins and Mary Susan Hopkins; grandchildren, Brad Hopkins and Jarrett Hopkins; and brothers, Joe Hopkins, Louis Morgan Hopkins and Edwin Lee Hopkins.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Betty Hopkins of Baxter, sons, Robert (Pat) Hopkins of the Shiloh community and Larry Hopkins of Baxter; daughters, Jo Ann (Danny) Garrison and Gail (Gerald) Meadows, all of the Shiloh community; grandchildren, Susan Ragland, Angie (Alan) Byers, Daniel (Christie) Garrison, Larry Hopkins, Jr., April (Starbuck) Hunt, Tiffany Burgess and Nicki (Paul) Dailey; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Charles (Reba) Hopkins of Gainesboro; sister, Betty Brown of the Shiloh community; special niece and caregiver, Alesia Bybee of Gainesboro; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Janie “Polly” Clinton

Janie “Polly” Clinton, 71, of Cookeville, passed away June 13 at her residence. Funeral services were held June 16 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Crossman officiating. Interment followed in the Burris Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 12, 1947, in Jackson County. She worked at Nielsen and was a member of the Freewill Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by parents, B. Ballard and Rettie Mansell Ballard.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Charles “Rod” Clinton of Cookeville; son, Tim Clinton of Cookeville; daughter, Becky Clinton Grist and Rob Gaw of Cookeville; grandson, Ridge Clinton Kennedy of Cookeville; brother, Richard (Patsy) Ballard of Cookeville; sisters, Norma (Kenner) Hawkins of Cookeville, Debbie Chaffin of Baxter and Anita Rhoten of Hilham; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mike Jones

Mike Jones, 63, of Gainesboro, passed away June 8 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held June 12 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Lakelan Barham and Sam Mainord officiating. Interment followed in the Pharris Cemetery.

He was born Jan.17, 1956 in Gainesboro. He worked as an electrician and bio-med tech at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and retired after 37 years of service. He was member of the Dudneys Hill Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by parents, James E. “J.J.” Jones and Elise Trisdale Jones; and infant sister, Patricia Gale Jones.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Patricia Pigg Jones of Gainesboro; son, J.W. (Ciara) Jones of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Easton Jones and Autumn Jones; sister, Debbie (Frankie) Hamlet of Gainesboro; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
