Velcie Ramsey Johnson

Velcie Ramsey Johnson, 96, of Gainesboro passed Sept. 5 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community.

She was born Dec. 1, 1922 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Burristown Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by parents, Jim Ramsey and Clara Henley Ramsey; husband, Haskel B. Johnson; daughter, Evelyn Johnson; and sisters, Dois Chrisman, Jewel Lumpford, Lassie Oliver and Agnes Wray.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, JoAnn (Jerry) Young of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Jerri Ann (Jeff) Anderson of Gainesboro and Jamie (Molly) Young of Dickson; great grandchildren, Misty (Daniel) Wilson, Riley Anderson, Jaylen Anderson, Lance Anderson, Alainey Watson, Macy Meadows and Nolan Young; great, great grandchild, Ezekiel Wayne; brothers, Hollis Ramsey and James (Bernice) Ramsey, all of Gainesboro; sisters, Nadene (Walden) Chrisman of Gainesboro, Linda Williams of Lebanon and Sue (Jerry) Spivey of Rock Island; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dottie Jean Dawes

Dottie Jean Dawes, 67, of Gainesboro passed away Sept 6 at her residence. She had chosen cremation, with no services planned at this time.

She was born Dec. 1, 1951 in Jackson County. She worked as a bartender.

She was preceded in death by father, Grover Cecil Stafford.

Surviving relatives include: son, Michael Lewis Dawes of Gainesboro; daughter, Melissa Territo of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Tyler Jeremiah (Kayci) Carpenter, Sky Dawes and Brooke Moore; great grandchildren, Ava Moore, Graeson Carpenter and Jaxon Carpenter; mother, Flora Mae Stafford; brothers, Grover Lee (Alice) Stafford and Micky Ray Stafford, both of Gainesboro and Bobby Richard (Darlene) Stafford of Gallatin; sisters, Dece (Terry) Key and Mary Lou Carmack, both of Gainesboro; and special friends, Charles Dawes and Carolyn Dawes.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Michael Edward Hammock

Michael Edward Hammock, 47, of Gainesboro passed away Sept 5 at Overton County Health and Rehab Center in Livingston. The family has chosen cremation, with no services planned at this time.

He was born Feb. 22, 1962 in Livingston. He was a residential and commercial builder by trade and served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by father, Keith Hammock; paternal grandparents, Walter and Delores Hammock; maternal grandparents, Wilker and Alpha Stamps; brothers, Jeff Walker and Timmy Walker; and sister, Diane Walker.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Lisa Hammock of Gainesboro; daughter, Sarah Hammock; son, Jeremy (Amy) Hammock of Alpine; granddaughter, Savannah Hammock of Alpine; grandson, Kaden Hammock of Alpine; mother, Wanda Walker of Livingston; brothers, Greg Walker of Livingston, James Hammock of Celina and Mark (Becky) Walker of Livingston; sisters, Angie (Anthony) Johnson of Allons, Anita (Waylon) Ledbetter of Livingston, Ann Phillips of Livingston, Lisa Hammock of Allons, Janice Ledbetter of Alpine and Sharon Hogue of Alpine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
