Frank Kenneth

Forkum

Mr. Frank Kenneth Forkum, age 76 of Hartsville, TN passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Forkum was raised in the Wartrace Community of Jackson County and worked on the Jackson and Wilson County Police Departments as an Officer and Deputy Sheriff.

Preceded in death by: Wife of 45 years, Betty Forkum; sisters, Bonnie Young & Shirley Coker.

Survived by: 2 Sons, Ricky (Brenda) Forkum-Hartsville, TN and Frank (Casey) Forkum-Lebanon, TN; 2 Grandchildren, Madilyn Forkum & Hannah Lynn Forkum; and Sister, Sally Jo Christian-Hartsville, TN.

Active pallbearers: Frank Joel Forkum, Randy & Danny Hiett, Brad Shoulders, Ricky Daughtry and Joe Payne.

Graveside services were held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Willow Grove Cemetery conducted by Bro. Jerome Stewart.

Evelyne Woodard Hackett

Mrs. Evelyne Woodard Hackett age 78, a homemaker of the Brooks Bend Community in Jackson County, died peacefully at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon November 12, 2019 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage where she was convalescing from a hip fracture suffered at her Brooks Bend Lane home on Thursday November 7.

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted on Saturday morning November 16 with Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Burial followed beside her husband in the Sircy Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community.

The family received friends at Sanderson in Kempville, 169 Kempville Highway, Carthage, TN 37030 on Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the services at 11 a.m.

One of three daughters and two sons born to the late Virgil Hobart Woodard who died March 19, 1982 at the age of 83 and Vela Dale Sircy Woodard who died February 10, 1980 at the age of 75, she was born Clara Evelyne Woodard in the Brooks Bend Community on May 16, 1941.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Belle Woodard Kemp who died at the age of 64 on April 10, 1996 and by two brothers, Willie B. (Wicker) Woodard who died at the age of 56 on July 10, 1981 and Herbert Kenneth Woodard who died at the age of 68 on January 22, 1996.

Mrs. Hackett was preceded in death by her husband of just over thirty three years on May 28, 1996 at the age of 73. They were united in marriage in Red Boiling Springs on May 21, 1963 by United Methodist minister, the late Rev. Sammy Cherry.

Mrs. Hackett was saved at an early age and was a longtime member of the former Ensors Chapel United Methodist Church in the Jackson County section of the Funns Branch Community.

She was a seamstress at the former Carthage Shirt Corporation for fourteen years ending in 1991.

Survivors include her daughter, Tracey Hackett and partner Kevin Curley of Cookeville; stepson, Gary Hackett and wife Susan of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Peggy Woodard Tisdale and husband Willie of Gordonsville; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jimmie D. Swezea

Jimmie D. Swezea, 72, of Gainesboro passed away Nov. 8 at Mabry Health Care Center. The family has chosen cremation with a private memorial service at a later time.

He was born March 10, 1947 in Jackson County. He worked as a machinist at Aeroquip and was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by; parents, Beaman Dow Swezea and Georgia Golden Swezea.

Surviving relatives include: daughters, Carmen (Jamie) Waggoner of Carthage and Casey (Justin) Moore of Cookeville; grandchildren, Noah Brown, Emma Brown, Allie Moore and Jace Moore; step grandchildren, Jacob Waggoner, Alex Waggoner, Kara Waggoner and Kelsey Waggoner; mother of his children, Frances Swezea of Gainesboro; sister, Patricia Stone of Whitleyville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette Fox

Jeanette Fox, 78, of Leesburg, Ala. passed away Nov. 7 at Floyd Hospital in Rome, Ga. Funeral services were held, Nov. 10 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community.

She was born Sept. 19, 1941 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Centre, Ala.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Thomas Webb Petty and Elsie Bea Hamlet Petty; brothers, Thomas, Jesse and Lyman; sisters, Nancy, Dorothy and Linda; grandchildren, Adam and Richie; and great granddaughter, Julia.

Surviving relatives include: husband, James Fox of Leesburg, Ala.; sons, James Phillip (Sharon) Fox of Leesburg, Ala. and John Paul (Barbara) Fox of Leesburg, Ala.; daughters, Kathy Fox and Bruce Hoose of Leesburg, Ala., Teresa Fox (Gary) Morrison of Vance, Ala. and Rita Fox (Andy) Mayrand of Gadsden, Ala.; brother, Willis “Shorty” Petty of Gainesboro; sisters, Charlene Petty Merritt of Hendersonville, Betty Petty Brock of Ala., Tennie Petty Webb of Willette, Tenn. and Susie Petty Lee of Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; and many who called her “Memaw” also survive.
