Robert D. Dudney

Robert D. Dudney, 74, of Cookeville, passed away Jan. 23 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Brown and Bro. Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Interment followed in the Dudney Family Cemetery in the Free State community. Pallbearers were George Dudney, Brian Dudney, Mark Dudney, Josh Sprague, Mike Larson, Garvis York, David Qualls and Greg Anderson.

He was born Sept. 11, 1945 in Detroit, Mich. He was retired, formerly serving as the general manager of Twin Lakes Telephone. He was a member of the Willow Avenue Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Edd Dudney, Sr and Vera Elizabeth Clark Dudney Davis; sister, Nancy June Dudney; father in law, Alton Carter; half brothers, Donald Dudney and Edd Dudney, Jr; and nieces and nephews.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Carolyn Carter Dudney of Cookeville; mother in law, Mildred Haile Carter of Cookeville; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Harlin Poston

Harlin Poston, 89, of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 20 at his residence. Funeral services were held Jan. 22 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Scott and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the John L. Clark Cemetery in the Stone community.

He was born April 30, 1930 in Jackson County. He worked as an electrician and plumber at Lakeland Electric and was a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Daniel Poston and Annie Mae Poston; wife, Becky Jo Poston; brother, D.B. Poston; sister, Lora Bailey; and granddog, Buckwheat.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Linda (Eddie) Vantrease and granddog, Gracie of Lebanon; brothers in law, James Bailey and Jack Smith, both of Gainesboro; sisters in law. Eva Fox of Gainesboro, Joyce Ann Smith, Betty Smith and Margaret Smith; nieces, Carolyn, Anita, Wanda, Wilma, Peggy, Glenda, Linda Jo, Betty and Carolyn; nephews, Ronnie, Boyd, Billy, Bobby, Dennis and Rex; and special friends, Ray and Bunie Stafford, Randy, Shawn, Neylan and Haleigh Spivey, Ray Heady, James “Trap” Hughes, Luann Rosson and Jane Clemons.

Nancy Crowder

Nancy Crowder, 82, of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 20 at her daughter’s residence. Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. John Sisco and Bro. George Witherspoon officiating. Interment followed in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community.

She was born Oct. 29, 1937 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cubb Creek Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Tom Sisco and Lola Sisco; husband, John D. Crowder; brothers, Richard Sisco and Jimmy Sisco; and sister, Jo Helen Sisco.

Surviving relatives include: daughters, Judy Cootes and husband, Russell of Smithville and Patricia Witherspoon and husband, George of Summertown; grandchildren, Terra (Michael) Long, Tandi (Cody) Stafford, Tyrell Bowman and Trent (Jamie) Jones; great grandchildren, Paige and Cobly Long, Harley and Hayden Stafford, Bryson Bowman and Nora Jones; sisters, Jean Funke of Lebanon and Marie Cato of N.C.; special niece, Polly Whitaker of Gainesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
