Herbert Lee Smallwood

Herbert Lee Smallwood, 74, of Gainesboro passed away Jan. 29 at Mabry Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with John Adcox officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery in the Fairview Community.

He was born Aug. 3, 1945 in Crossville. He worked as a factory worker and painter in the boating industry.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Hugh Smallwood and Sarah Mahaney Smallwood; son, Steven Smallwood; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Ida Norris Smallwood of Gainesboro; sons, Timmy Smallwood, Ray Smallwood, Troy Smallwood, Chad Howard and Terry Howard; brother, Glenn Smallwood; sisters, Sylvia Murphy and Carla Rector; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jacob Wesley Stafford

Jacob Wesley Stafford, 43, of Gainesboro passed away Jan. 26 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community.

He was born Nov. 13, 1976 in Jackson County. He worked as a correction officer at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and was affiliated with the Beech Grove Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Sarah Lorene York “Bear” Stafford; maternal grandparents, Carsey and Gwen Sircy and paternal grandfather, Doyle Pete Stafford.

Surviving relatives include: parents Donnie and Shira Stafford of Gainesboro; paternal grandmother, Mildred Brown of Gainesboro; special aunts, Cathy Stafford of Whitleyville, Patricia Winegar of Gainesboro and Brenda Cannon of Gainesboro; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Evie York of Red Boiling Springs; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy Lloyd Stafford

Jimmy Lloyd Stafford, 82, of Michigan and formerly of Cookeville passed away Jan. 28 in Michigan. Funeral services were held Feb. 1 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Interment followed in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community.

He was born Aug. 5, 1937 in Gainesboro. He worked for General Motors.

He was preceded by: parents, Comer Eldridge Stafford and Ersie Ann Patterson; and brothers, Joe Stafford (Florence), Comer Jr. Stafford (Theresa) and Billy P. Stafford (Betty).

Surviving relatives include: wife, Mary Katherine Scott; brother, John Landen Stafford (Doris); children, Belinda Ellsworth (Chris Goosman) and Jeffrey Stafford (Kathy); grandchildren, Tiffany Ellsworth, Aaron Ellsworth, Drew Stafford, Ethan Stafford, Emma Stafford, Annaliese Stafford, Olivia Goosman and Gabriel Stafford; and great grandchildren, Sydney Cogswell and John Cogswell.

Elise Garrison Allen

Elise Garrison Allen, age 88, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020. She was born Sunday, May 3, 1931 to Vestal and Annie Ramsey Garrison in Gainesboro, Tennessee.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wade E. Allen, Sr.; daughter, Linda Silcox; great granddaughter, Madison Grace Leader and brother, Costin Garrison.

Survived by children; Anna (Bobby) Huffine, Elmie (Herb) Ruck, Wade E. (Linda Gayle) Allen, Jr. and Joyce (Nathan) Douglas, Sr.

Grandchildren; Dustin Huffine, Tiffany Ruck Carey, Ashley Silcox Leader, Gregory Huffine, Brooke Silcox King, Tatum Ruck Green, Nathan Douglas, Jr. and Taylor Douglas; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian O’Brien and Wanell Goolsby; brothers, Fred and Paul Garrison and her beloved pet, “Molly”.

The family would like to express a very special thanks to her caregivers; Reta Escue, Connie Williams, Marie Kauffman and Diana Brass; Jennifer Beachboard and staff at Avalon Hospice; and staff at Gallatin Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

A Celebration of Life was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Gregory Huffine officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends gathered to remember Mrs. Allen at a visitation Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 11 until the 2 service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 S. Dickerson Road Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
