Truman Edward Stearnes
Truman Edward Stearnes, 82, of Gainesboro, passed away March 2, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life service was held March 15 at Mountain Chapel Ministries in Gainesboro with Pastor Truman B. Stearnes officiating.
He was born Oct. 2, 1937 in Nashville. He lived a blessed life, some would call charmed. Whether song-writing, playing music, selling real estate, acting, painting, creating pottery, golfing, making wine or fishing, he excelled in all he did.
He was preceded in death by: parents, W.V. Stearnes and Lillie Stearnes Outen; step father, Frontis Outen; grandson Jeremiah Stearnes; wives, Ruby Fay Bates Stearnes and Peggy Stearnes; daughter, Lisa Y. Stearnes; siblings, Ann Stearnes, Maggie Stearnes Hoover, Donald Stearnes, Alvin Odell Stearnes and William Mearl Stearnes.
Surviving relatives include: son, Truman B. Stearnes and fiancé, Sheri Stearnes of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Ella Gray of Portland, Oregon, Alex Stearnes Workman of Louisville, Ky., Thomas Stearnes of Dahlonega, Ga., Scott Corbin and Amanda Henry, both of Cookeville; and a passel of great grandchildren.

Moline Stafford Hamilton
Moline Stafford Hamilton, 74, of Bloomington Springs, passed away March 6 at her residence. Funeral services were held March 9 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Burris Cemetery on Cummins Mill Road.
She was born Dec. 14, 1945 in Jackson County. She was a factory worker.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Lee Stafford and Lula Cantrell Stafford; husband, George B. Hamilton; brothers, Joe Stafford, Bennie F. Stafford, Tommie Ray Stafford and Cecil F. Stafford and sister, Ruby Morris.
Surviving relatives include: sons, William (Sarah) Hamilton of Bloomington Springs, Mike Hamilton of Indianapolis, Ind. and John (Rachel) Stafford of Bloomington Springs; daughter, Georgia Irene Driesens of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Gladys Hunter; seven grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; close friends, Mary Turner and Marie Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Kathy Bowman Burgess
Kathy Bowman Burgess, 62, of Gainesboro, passed away March 6 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held March 10 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. James Bybee officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community.
She was born July 1, 1957 in Gainesboro. She was a factory worker and a member of the Burristown Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by: parents, James Ralph Bowman and Betty Warren Bowman; sister, Melissa Bowman; aunts, Sylvia, Dutch and Renie; and maternal grandparents, Bruce and Cynthia Ellis.
Surviving relatives include: husband, Bill Burgess of Gainesboro; daughter, Brandy (Marty) Davison of Walling; grandchildren, Taylor (Lauren) Masters of Crossville and Brittany Masters of Cookeville; great grandchildren, Fallon, Brittian and Anniston Masters; sisters, Pat (David) Poston of Cookeville and Jo Ann Bowman of Gainesboro; nephew, Scott (Tonia) Wilson; great-niece, Abby (Jesse) Thornton; and many cousins and friends.
Bobby Hollis Mitchell, 83, of Cookeville, passed away March 8 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held March 11 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. John Mabery officiating. Interment followed in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community.
He was born Nov. 27, 1936 in Jackson County. He was a factory worker and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Harlan Mitchell and Avie Mitchell; wife, Hazel Farley Mitchell; sisters, Helen Miller, Katherine Stewart, Hattie Carlile and Judy Mitchell.
Surviving relatives include: brothers, Charles Mitchell and Billy Mitchell, both of Bloomington Springs; sisters, Toyetta Hensley of Bloomington Springs and Sally Foster of Smyrna; grandchildren, Derek and Devin Carter; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
George Alan Henry, Jr., 34, of Cookeville, passed away March 10 in Cookeville. Funeral services were held March 15 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. The family has chosen cremation.
He was born Feb. 26, 1986 in Cookeville. He was medically retired from the United States Marine Corps and attended the New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: maternal grandfather, David Lackey.
Surviving relatives include: father, George Alan Henry, Sr.; mother, Sabrina Dale Lackey; brothers, Byran Norrod, Ethan Henry and Isaac Hamlet; sisters, Tausha Grady, Heather Nixon and Jasmine Hamlet; maternal grandparents, Ronnie and Verble Harris; and paternal grandparents, John and Shirley Henry.
