New signs have been installed and are being dedicated for the Quiz Community that lies in both Jackson and Putnam counties.
Quiz’s Post Office moved from one location in Putnam County in 1898 to its second location, which was just inside Jackson County on Smith Chapel Road. This second post office was located near the present day intersection of Smith Chapel Road and Phillips Road less than a mile east of the historical Spring Creek Baptist Church. It was dedicated on March 9, 2020. This Quiz Post Office was in operation from July 19, 1898 to Feb. 29, 1904, when it closed and moved to Cookeville. The postmaster was Samuel M. Phillips. The road that runs by the old Quiz Post Office is named for his family.
