Hubert C. Chaffin

Hubert C. Chaffin, 83, of Baxter, passed away April 1 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A private graveside service was held at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 20, 1937 in Double Springs. He had an environment and conservation degree, along with his wife; they operated Chaffin’s Fur and Ginseng for many years. He was a self-made man with many skills and talents.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Hiram and Sarah Elizabeth (Dunn) Chaffin; son, Mark Wynn Chaffin; and brothers and sisters, Horace, Howard, Anna Margaret, Louise and Reba.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Shirley Chaffin of Baxter; son and daughter in law, Jamie and Kimberly Chaffin of Gainesboro; daughter and son in law, Tamara and Roy Hughes of Readyville; grandchildren, Ryan, Dakota, Elizabeth, Alex, Samantha, Jessica and Jedidiah; and six great grandchildren.

Willodean Netherton

Willodean Netherton, 97, of Gainesboro, passed away April 1 at her residence. Graveside services were held April 4 at the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville Community with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating.

She was born Sept. 20, 1922 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Cellie Mosley and Nannie Belle Belle Dycus Mosely; and husband, Edward C. Netherton.

Surviving relatives include: son, Jimmy (Robbie) Netherton of Gainesboro; daughters, Alesia (Bob) Spivey of Gainesboro and Rose (Jeff) Collins of Galion, Ohio; grandchildren, Dana Clinard, Michael Netherton, Randy Spivey, Karla Hensley, Jeff Anderson, Tracy Anderson and Jeffrey Collins; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Joshua Lee Crutcher

Joshua Lee Crutcher, 30, of Old Hickory, passed away March 31 in Old Hickory. Graveside services were held April 4 at the Young Cemetery in the Center Grove community with Bro. Dean Siemens officiating.

He was born May 10, 1989 in Nashville. He worked in drywall construction and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving relatives include: son, Brayden Crutcher of Dowelltown; daughters, Carleigh Crutcher of Dowelltown and Briana Banks; parents, Bobby Eugene Crutcher and Tina Lee Vandergriff Crutcher of Dowelltown; sisters, Samantha Crutcher of Lebanon. Amber Eakes of Lebanon and Haley Crutcher of Dowelltown; and grandparents, Bobby and Kathy Vandergriff, Larry Crutcher and Barbara Martin and Tammie Schulze.

Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Olar V. Fox

Olar V. Fox, 99, of Gainesboro, passed away April 2 at Mabry Health Care Center. Graveside services were held April 5 at the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville with Bro. Johnny Fox, Greg Anderson and Bro. John Anderson officiating.

She was born May 17, 1920 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, William Sewell Birdwell and Pearlie Medlin Birdwell; husband, Herman Davis Fox; brothers, Robert Birdwell, Odes Birdwell and William Birdwell; sister, Peggy Nola Birdwell; sons in law, Hugh Sircy and Lewis E. Wheeler; and grandchild, Penny Kay Fox.

Surviving relatives include: son, Raymond (Bonnie) Fox of Cookeville; daughters: Sue (Charles) Pippin of Bloomington Springs, Ruby (Roger) Anderson of Gainesboro, Roslyn (Adriel) Stout of Cookeville, Audrey (Kenneth) Anderson of Gainesboro, Judy (Ray) Jones of Cookeville and Rosie (Jerell) Killian of Cookeville; grandchildren: Sherrie (Brad) Loftis, Alan (Tanda) Pippin, Jackie (Doak) Layne, Kathie (Mike) Driver, Tammie (Tim) Brown, Donna (Brian) Hall, John (Shanna) Anderson, Ashley (Ellen) Wheeler, Sonya (Jason) Anderson, Ronda Stout, Greg (Dalene) Anderson, Kim (Tim) Smith, Sandy (Stacy) Brewington, Christy (Kenny) Cobble, JR (Marlania) Jones, Shane Hawkins, Sam Hawkins, Kendall (Mike) Keller and Heather (Roy) Jones; 47 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ermon C. Birdwell of Bloomington Springs; sister; Ila Mae Anderson of Cookeville; special sisters in law Rebecca Vinson and Eula Fox; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
