Billy Rogers Coffee

Billy Rogers Coffee, 76, of Hot Springs, passed away July 1. Funeral services were held July 6 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Gallimore officiating. Interment followed in the Crestview Memorial Park with military honors by the U.S. Army. Active pallbearers were John Batty, Jerry Batty, Nick Coffee, Vince Wellman, Richard Coffee Jr. and Joe Shrable.

He was born July 25, 1943 in Gainesboro. He worked for Ability Metal where he became the general manager and vice president of sales. He loved to travel and to go to casinos.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Edgar and Mary Jones Coffee; wife, Brenda Sue Browning; brothers, Thomas Coffee and Jimmy Coffee; sister, Nannie Rodgers; brother-in-law, Donald Batty; niece, Jennifer Wellman.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Roger (Janine) Coffee of Wood Dale, Ill. and Richard Coffee Sr. of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Nick Coffee of Wood Dale, Ill. and Richard Coffee Jr. of Valparaiso, Ind. and Kimberly Coffee of Hot Springs; sisters, Myrtle Batty and Sarah Mateja, both of Hot Springs; and several nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Stephen Harold Brown

Stephen Harold Brown, 51, of Gainesboro, passed away June 28 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation with no services scheduled at this time.

He was born March 17, 1969 in Jackson County.

He was preceded in death by: father, Reginald Dwight; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Lucy Stafford; and paternal grandparents, Harold and Edna Brown.

Surviving relatives include: son, Shea Brown of Cookeville; sister, Malinda Brown of Cookeville; mother, Juanita Brown of Gainesboro; half sisters, Renee L. Brown and Amanda Brown; and other relatives and many friends.

Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

I V Byers

I V Byers, 79, of Cookeville, passed away June 28 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 1 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community.

She was born Nov. 30, 1940 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Troy B. Haney and Linda Zo Mayberry Haney; daughter, Sharon Elaine Byers; and siblings, KB Haney, Charles Haney, Troy Haney Jr., Cora Loftis and Vena Cantrell.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Louis Byers of Cookeville; sons, Kelly (Sharon) Byers of Cookeville, Alan (Angie) Byers of Baxter and Brent (Laura) Byers of Cookeville; daughters, Donna (James) Dennis of Cookeville and Sheila (Mark) Oakley of Cookeville; grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Brandon Dennis, Andrew Byers, Andrea Martin, Megan Broman, Mary Alice Bales, Kaylin Byers, Clay Byers, Hannah Beth Byers, Ryleigh Byers, Sophea Byers, Braxton Bennett and Shelby Pullum; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, M B Ragland and Marie Johnson, both of Gainesboro; and many close friends and relatives.

Lillie Mae Christian

Lillie Mae Christian, 84, of Gainesboro, passed away June 29 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held July 2 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Bobby Scantland officiating. Interment followed in the Clementsville Cemetery in Clay County.

She was born May 5, 1936 in Clay County. She was a restaurant worker and a member of the Poston Chapel Community Church.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Raymond Cherry and Lela Copas Cherry; husband, Frank E. Christian; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy and Betty Christian and Floyd Ray Christian; daughter, Patricia Ann Allen; brothers, Richard Cherry, Roy Cherry, Kenneth Cherry and Charles Cherry; sister, June Ferrell; grandchildren, Sheri Crabtree and Jackie Christian; sister-in-law, Ruth Bennett; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Pigg.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Kenneth (Glenda) Christian and Scottie (Linda) Christian, all of Gainesboro; sisters, Jean Ferrell and Margaret Ferrell of Lebanon; brother, Jerry (Carlene) Cherry of Watertown; grandchildren, Angie Christian, Kenneth Christian, Bennie Phillips and Valerie Phillips; 23 great-grandchildren; great-great- grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bobby C. Johnson

Bobby C. Johnson, 80, of Cookeville, passed away June 30 at his residence. Funeral services were held July 4 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Charles West officiating. Interment followed in the Flatt and Woolbright Cemetery.

He was born June 30, 1940 in Jackson County. He was a member of the McBroom Chapel Church of Christ and a retired employee of Pepsi where he was a machinist.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Artis Clabe Johnson and Nettie B. Haney Johnson; brother, Roy C. Johnson; and sister, Joy C. Brown.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Frances Donneitta Flatt Johnson of Cookeville; sons, Teddy Ray Johnson and Roy Johnson of Cookeville; daughters, Annette Epperson of Cookeville, Sandra Bright of Baxter and Jo Ann Conner of Cookeville; sister, Anna Belle Stafford of Bloomington Springs; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

Mary Allen

Mary Allen, 79, of the Shiloh community, passed away July 1 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 3 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community.

She was born March 24, 1941 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Elvis Clinton and Bertha Garrison Clinton; brothers, Dave Clinton and James “Dick” Clinton; and sisters, Wilma Scott, Bonnie Clinton and Johnnie Spell.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Joe Willard Allen of the Shiloh community; son, Jeff (Kim) Allen of Cookeville; daughters, Joey Allen and Jody (Clint) De Weese, all of Cookeville; brothers, Charles Rod Clinton of Cookeville and Harvey Clinton of Hohenwald; sisters, Mildred Smith and Lisa Mayberry, both of Cookeville; grandchildren, Joshua Allen and Ryelee DeWeese; and several nieces, nephews and other friends.

David Earl Maxwell

David Earl Maxwell, 78, of Shepardsville community, passed away July 2, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 5 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kelly Stockton officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill-Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Hwy.

He was born Dec. 16, 1941 in Putnam County. He owned an auto parts store and was a member of the Union Hill Church of Christ. He also served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Nealy William Maxwell and Georgia O. Coffelt Maxwell; and brother, Donnie Gene Maxwell.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Linda West Maxwell of Bloomington Springs; sister, Barbara (Joe) Jared of Cookeville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Doug Vandiver, David and Linda West, Robert and Carolyn West, Alvin and Nancy West, James and Penny West; sisters-in- law, Helen and Polly; and special niece and nephew, Kurstin and Caleb West.
