Eddie Strong, 75, of Gainesboro, passed away Aug. 1 at his residence. Funeral services were held Aug. 4 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. Duane Gossett and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 12, 1944 in Jackson County. He was a retired grocery store owner of Strong’s Grocery in the Burristown Community, a farmer and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Comer and Reba Mayberry Strong; and brothers, Shirley, David and Bruce Strong.
Surviving relatives include: wife, Betty Strong of Gainesboro; son, Chip (Alicia) Strong of Gainesboro; daughter, Lisa Scantland of Gainesboro; brother Billy Strong of Cookeville; sister, Rose Mary Sharp of Nashville; grandchildren, Jesse (Miranda) Strong, David (Kimberlea) Strong, Jacob Scantland and Jaryn Scantland.
Funeral services for Danny Stafford, better known as “Radio,” 62, of the Harmony community, were held Aug. 9 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Mainord officiating. Interment followed in the Peek Cemetery in the Harmony community.
He was born Oct. 16, 1957 in Jackson County. He was a factory worker at Nielsen and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Odus C. Stafford and Mary Eva Odum Stafford; and brother in law, Randall H. Wilson.
Surviving relatives include: sisters, Peggy Wilson of Gainesboro and Phyllis Andrews of Gainesboro; special friend, Melinda Steward; stepgranddaughter Aubree Steward; nephew and nieces; Shannon Wilson, Jessica Lyle and Kelly Emerton; and several great-nieces and nephews.
