JCMS High Altitude Balloon Launch A Success

On Thursday, Aug. 6 at approximately 8:15 a.m. a journey that began over one year ago finally took to the air. It has become a tradition with Mr. Mike to inspire the students of Jackson County with his High Altitude Balloon (HAB) projects. “The first two HAB’s were released at GES when I taught 3rd grade. Mrs. Tina was always a strong supporter of anything that got the students excited about science! I was very blessed when I moved to the Middle School that Mr. Tinsley and Mr. Sheppard are very STEM and Science supportive and they let me continue. ”

The first two HAB’s were great successes that failed, Mr. Mike tells. “With the Logan I and II, about the only thing that worked was the tracking device! The first launch I got nothing, the second I got some great video for a very short time, but it went all the way to Roanoke, VA.”
