Elowise (Carter) Bruce
Elowise (Carter) Bruce, 88, passed away Aug. 25 in Atlanta, Ga. A Celebration of Life service was held Sept. 4 at the South Dekalb Chapel of Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes. Interment followed in the Washington Memorial Gardens in Decatur, Ga.
Surviving relatives include: daughter, Jenny Bruce; and a host of dear relatives and special friends.
Jerry D. Goolsby
Jerry D. Goolsby, 68, of Blooming Springs, passed away Sept. 6. Memorial services were held Sept. 19 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville.
He was born Sept. 9, 1951 in Baxter. He was a retired business owner and a member of Woodmen of the World.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Claude Cecil Goolsby and Virginia Margaret Pippin Goolsby; brother, Wesley Claude Goolsby; and girlfriend, Jacqueline Peci.
Surviving relatives include: daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Jonas Moen of Dodson Branch; grandchildren, Rachel Elaine Randolph, Cecilia Alexis Goolsby, Gabriel Justice Moen, Freedom Grayc Moen; and many friends.
Juanita Brown, 72, of the Center Grove community, passed away Sept. 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held Sept. 17 at the Pharris Cemetery in the McCoinsville community with Bro. Kevin Daughrity officiating.
She was born Aug. 7, 1948 in Jackson County. She was a shirt factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Clifford Stafford and Lucy Stafford; son, Stephen Brown; sister, Lillie Mae Stafford; and brother, Jimmy Stafford.
Surviving relatives include: daughter, Malinda Brown of Cookeville; brother, Hollis Stafford of Cookeville; sisters Phyllis Haney and Marie Owens, both of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Conner Brown and Shea Brown, both of Cookeville; and special nieces that were like sisters, Karen Cassetty and Kathy Ledbetter.
Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Buddy Collier, 69, of Bloomington Springs, passed away Sept. 15 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Webb and Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Douglas Collier Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington Springs. Honorary pallbearer was Collier Bush.
He was born Sept. 5, 1951 in Granville. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Double Springs Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Douglas Collier and Mary Huff Collier; step-mother, Thelma Guess Collier; three infant brothers; brother, Johnny B. Collier; paternal grandparents, Buddy and Clara Burton Collier; and maternal grandparents, Haskel and Vennie Frizzell Huff.
Surviving relatives include: wife, Arlene Collier of Bloomington Springs; daughters, Tonya (Rocky) Matlock of Cookeville and Samantha (Brent) Bush of Grimsley; sons: Matt Carr and Shane (Christy) Johnson, all of Cookeville; brother: Jimmy (Virginia) Collier of Whitleyville; sisters, Wanda (James) Earnest of Bloomington Springs, Bonnie (Larry) Meadows of Gainesboro and Elloise Keith of Bloomington Springs; grandchildren, Savannah (Houston) Fehrman, Kage Matlock, Breanna Bush engaged to Andrew Taylor, Gracie Bush, Mattie Bush, Collier Bush, Tyler (Maddie) Johnson, and Shely Johnson; and other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
