County Reaches Settlement In Suit

A fired Chief Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff Department has reached a settlement in a federal case that has been ongoing since January of this year.

According to the suit filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, former Chief Deputy Christopher Carter sought damages after wrongful termination.

In the suit, Carter reported alleged wrongdoings of Jackson County Sheriff Marty Hinson to the Office of the Tennessee Comptroller as a concerned citizen; however, six days later Carter was terminated because “[His] services were no longer needed.”
