Joann Garrison, 63, of Jackson County, passed away Sept. 26 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sept. 29 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Crossman, Bro. Ted Gaw and Bro. John Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Morgan Pippin Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 26, 1956 in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Zion Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Marion Thomas Hopkins and Betty Jean Welch Hopkins and brother, Larry Hopkins, Sr.
Surviving relatives include: husband, Danny Garrison of Cookeville; son, Daniel James Thomas (Christie) Garrison of Cookeville; daughter, Angela Danielle (Alan) Byers of Baxter; brother, Robert Hopkins of Cookeville; sister, Gail Meadows of Cookeville; grandchildren, Kaylin Byers, Jesse Garrison, Clay Byers, Jake Garrison, Hannah Beth Byers and Layla Garrison; other relatives and many friends.
Lanse Taylor Painter
Lanse Taylor Painter, 93, of Gainesboro, passed away Sept. 27 at Mabry Health Care. Funeral services were held Sept. 29 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Bybee officiating. Interment followed in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
He was born Oct. 26, 1926 in Jackson County. He was a retired employee of the TN Division of Forestry and a member of the National Forestry Department. He served in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by: parents, Lindsey G. Painter and Mamie Watson Painter; wife, Jewel Meadows Painter; son, John Landon Painter; and sister, Bonell Ferguson.
Surviving relatives included: grandsons, Johnny (Allison) Painter of Baxter, Jason (Raeann) Painter of Cookeville; great grandchildren, Cade Painter, Nate Painter and Aynsley Painter; and daughter in law, Mazelle Painter of Whitleyville.
