John R. Henry Sr.

John R. Henry Sr, 86, of the Big Bottom community, passed away Nov. 1 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held Nov. 7 at the New Hope Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Heady officiating.

He was born Feb. 10, 1934 in Wellsburg, W.Va. He was a retired carpet installer, an avid fisherman and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: parents, John Raymond Henry and Alma Lucille Price Henry; brother, Raymond; sisters, Priscilla and Susan; and grandson, George Henry, Jr.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Shirley Kaufman Henry of Gainesboro; sons, John R. (Rosemary) Henry, Jr. of Gainesboro, George Alan (Danita) Henry of Cookeville and Michael Edward (Angie) Henry of Gainesboro; brother, Jim Henry of Florida; sisters, Bonnie French of Florida, Ruth Winkler of West Virginia and Rebecca Laham of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Garry Wayne Haney

Garry Wayne Haney, 60, of Dodson Branch community, passed away Nov. 12 at his residence. Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Haney officiating. Interment followed in the Dodson Branch Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 1, 1959 in Gainesboro. He was a factory worker and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by: father, Harold Gene Haney; wife, Carolyn Haney; grandchild, Jason Blake Haney; and brother, Harold Ray Haney.

Surviving relatives include: daughters, Amanda Butler of Overton Co. and Brenda Harris of Carthage; brother, Billy Sherril Haney of Cookeville; sisters, Carolyn Haney of Cookeville and Patricia Denson of Gainesboro; mother Gladys Haney of Cookeville; and grandchildren, Shawn and Kayden.

Teresia Michelle Scott

Teresia Michelle Scott, 51, of the Fairview Community, passed away Nov. 8 at her residence in Livingston. Funeral services were held Nov. 12 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jr. Shepherd officiating. Interment followed in the Lynn Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 11, 1969 in Celina. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Lushion and Mary Alice Allen Scott; and brothers, Edgar and Chris Scott.

Surviving relatives include: brother, Billy Dewayne Scott of Cookeville; sisters, Debra Scott of Livingston and Glenda Christian of Gainesboro; aunts, Francis Shepherd of Cookeville, Sue Dunn of Baxter, Laurie Petty of Gainesboro; and grandchildren, Amber, Tyler and Kevin.

Wilma Ann Phillips

Wilma Ann Brown Phillips, 79, of the Hardys Chapel community, passed away Nov. 6 at the Bethesda Health Care Center. Graveside services were held Nov. 9 at the Arlington Cemetery in Putnam County.

She was born Dec. 15, 1940 in Celina. She was a 1959 graduate of Clay County High School and a member of the Netherland Church of Christ. She worked in the office at Cookeville Regional as a Dietary Aide.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Joe M. and Norma Gray Brown; and brother, Joe Brown.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Thomas Phillips; daughters, Rhonda Meyers and husband, Oralee of Clarksville and Deborah Sherfield; grandchildren, April Furcean, Tabitha Norden, Sabrina Randolph and Brittany Gribble; great grandchildren, Emily Furcean, Alexander Furcean, Ethan Norden, Isabella Clark, Braylon Hankerson and Alysia Gribble and sister, Brenda Goins.

Speck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Terri Jo Hall

Terri Jo Hall, 48, passed away Nov. 3 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation and no services are planned at this time.

She was born June 27, 1972 in Crossville.

She was preceded in death by: father, Jackie Sells; maternal grandparents, James and Loula Hall; and granddaughter, Cayleigh Cooper.

Surviving relatives include: son, Trevor Hall of Only; daughters, Hannah Hall Boles of Baxter and Hallie Hall of Lake Worth, Fla.; special friend, Jamie Haney; mother, Donna Mize of St. Roberts, Mo.; brother, Brendon Mize of St. Roberts, Mo.; sisters, Kristian Mize and Jennifer Mize, both of St. Roberts, Mo.; and three grandchildren.

Randall Brent Allen

Randall Brent Allen, 37, of Baxter, passed away Nov. 7 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held Nov. 18 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

He was born March 13, 1983 in Cookeville.

He was preceded in death by: maternal grandmother, Adell Blaylock; aunt, Eugenia (Bobo) Sims; and step-father, Doug Dyer.

Surviving relatives include: son, Austin Lee Henley of Gainesboro; mother, Melissa Allen Whitaker of Cookeville; brothers, T J Whittaker of Gainesboro and James Vaughn of Cookeville; sister, Laurie Vaughn of Gainesboro; brother-in-law, Timmy (Fatboy) Young; girlfriend, Tonya Gaw of Baxter; maternal grandfather, Bobby Lee Allen of Cookeville; and aunts, Denise Allen of Nashville, Margaret Brock of Cookeville and Deborah Leann Boyd of Lebanon.

Joanna Lynne Adams, 46, of Gainesboro, passed away Nov. 11 at her residence. Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Fox officiating. Interment followed in the Smellage Cemetery in the Boma Community of Putnam County.

She was born Sept. 9, 1974 in Gainesboro.

She was preceded in death by: adoptive step-father, Garry Adams; step- father, Hugh Lee Pharris; maternal grandparents, Austin Dawes and Lucy Dawes Smith; and paternal grandparents, Joe and Ellise Adams.

Surviving relatives include: special friend, Michael Wilburn of Rickman; mother, Rosie Mae Pharris of Gainesboro; birth father, Carl Franklin Flatt of Bloomington Springs; very special father, Gene Clark Bellar of Gainesboro; brother, Jimmy Dale (Jessica) Adams; uncle, Richard (Carol) Dawes; cousin, Chris Dawes of Cookeville; uncle, Charles (Carolina) Dawes; cousins Melissa, Tammy and Michael of Cookeville; special sisters, Carol Pippin and Tonya Stafford; nieces, Maggie and Shelby Adams; special nieces, Christin Widner and Kayla Widner; nephew, Austin Adams; and special nephew, Casey Stafford.

Travis Alexander McPherson

Travis Alexander McPherson, 31, passed away Nov. 3 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation and no services are planned.

He was born Dec. 13, 1988 in Dayton, Ohio. He was employed as a wallpaper hanger.

He was preceded in death by: mother, Shawn Diane Morris; paternal grandfather, Donnie Baker; and maternal grandparents, Herschel and Brenda Morris.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Hallie McPherson of Fla.; father, Timothy Wayne McPherson; brother, Zachery Coy McPherson of Gainesboro; and paternal grandmother, Mildred Baker of Huber Heights, Ohio.
