Jackson County Deputy Arrested

On March 19 deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office seized several pills during an investigation into unlawful possession. While processing the evidence a deputy observed Deputy Michael Moon close to the evidence and acting in manner that appeared to be suspicious. The deputies observed that there were missing pills from the location when Deputy Moon left the room.

The deputies immediately contacted Sheriff Marty Hinson who responded along with Captain Dennis Thrasher to investigate the allegations. Sheriff Hinson and Captain Thrasher were able to recover the evidence from Moon as well as other evidence that led to Captain Thrasher bringing criminal charges for tampering with evidence, theft and possession of Schedule IV and V narcotics. Sheriff Marty Hinson also terminated his employment.
