Thelma McBride

Thelma Dennis McBride, 80, of Gainesboro, passed away July 9 at her residence. Funeral services were held July 12 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating the service. Interment followed in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Dennis, Kevin Dennis, Alex Gaw, Jackson Gaw, Travis Dennis and Robert Milton.

She was born Nov. 20, 1940 in Jackson County. She was a nursing assistant and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Henry B. Dennis and Willie T. Hopkins Dennis; brothers, John L., Baugh, Lewis, Kelly and Ray Dennis; sisters, Aline Dennis, Cora Mathis and Betty Flatt.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Randy (Cindy) McBride of Baxter and Terry (Michelle) McBride of Bloomington Springs; daughter, Missy (Mark Scott) McBride of Cookeville; grandchildren, Sarah (Allen) Payne, Ryan McBride, Annie McBride, Tyler McBride, Taylor Scott and Torie McBride; great grandchildren, Tatum Payne, Kira Payne, Samuel Payne and Bryson Stephens; special sister in laws, Linda Dennis and Teresa Dennis; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Sandra Joann Hatfield

Sandra Joann Hatfield, 57, of Carthage, passed away July 16 in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation with no services at this time.

She was born Nov. 7, 1963 in Nashville. She worked in the fast food industry.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Arthur D. McQuiston and Mary Agnes Kirkpatrick McQuiston; brother, Michael McQuiston; and fiance, Phillip Stafford.

Surviving relatives include: brothers, Jackie McQuiston of Cookeville and Arthur McQuiston, Jr. of Nashville; and sister, Rhonda Blunkall of Chestnut Mound.

Kevin Patrick

Anderson

Kevin Patrick Anderson, 63, of Gainesboro, passed away July 9 at his residence. Funeral services were held July 12 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the New Salem Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 2, 1958 in Jackson County. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by: father, Eldridge (Nick) Anderson; maternal grandparents, Donald and Lena Apple; paternal grandparents, Johnny Peyton and Dona Anderson; and nephew, Shane Pippin.

Surviving relatives include: mother, Helen Brown Apple Anderson Jackson; brother Greg Anderson of Cookeville; sister, Michelle Anderson Harris of Rickman; nieces and nephews, Derek Harris, Nickole Anderson Stephens, Peyton Anderson and Kennedy Anderson.

David G. West

David G. West, 73 of Jackson County, passed away July 9 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 14 in the chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kelly Stockton officiating. Interment followed in the Union Hill Flatt Cemetery. Pallbearers were Spencer West, Matthew West, Caleb West, Brian Birdwell, Donnie Birdwell and David Birdwell. Honorary pallbearers were Shawn West, Jonathan Bowman, Zaydan Redmon and Deegan Redmon.

He was born March 8, 1948 in Jackson County. He was a retired factory worker and a former deputy sheriff with the Jackson County Sheriffs Dept. He was a member of the Union Hill Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Dowell and Blanche Young West; brother in law, David Maxwell ; and nephew Josh Myers.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Linda Faye West of Cookeville; sons, John Dow West of Cookeville and Wesley (Rebekah) Adam West of Cookeville; daughter, Brandy Nicole West of Cookeville; brothers, Robert (Carolyn) and Alvin (Nancy) West, both of Bloomington Springs and James (Penny) West of Cookeville; sisters, Judy (Doug) Vandiver and Linda Maxwell, both of Bloomington Springs, Helen West of Cookeville and Polly West of Baxter; grandchildren, Brittany West, Spencer West, Zaydan Redmon, Emma (Lulu) Gore, Deegan Redmon, Rachael, Ryleigh, Luke, Liam and Rose; great grandchildren, Mayzlee McClellon, Lydia McClellon and Layla West; and nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Billy Frank Carter

Billy Frank Carter, 81, of Granville, passed away July 11 in Cookeville. Services will be announced at a later date.

He was born Dec. 21, 1939 in Granville. He worked in construction as an equipment operator best know for his bulldozer work. He was an avid horseman and farmer raising cattle and tobacco crops. His passion was breaking and training young horses and mules.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Hass and Ruby Nell Carter; brother, Lloyd Carter; sister, Shirley Jean (Gene) Burgess; daughter in law, Joy Carter; and nephew, Ronald Burgess.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Ruth Carter; children, Paul Carter, David Carter (Pam Holloway) and Barbara Green (Carter); grandchildren, Jessica (Jarad) Webb, Elizabeth (Colby) Reeder, Kasey Green, Katherine (Josh) Thompson and Emily Carter; great grandchildren, Raegan Adcock, Dixon Webb and Caroline Reeder; nephew Randall Burgess; nieces Kay Waller, Darlene Brown and Margaret “Tinker” Head; cousin Feller Brown; and many other friends and family.

Kathy Payne

Kathy Payne, 69, of Cookeville, passed away July 11 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 15 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Wyles officiating. Interment followed in the Dodson Branch Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 27, 1951 in Jackson County. She worked as an LPN and was a member of the Dodson Branch Southern Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Raymond Mayberry and Ruby Mayberry; brothers, James Mayberry and Aaron Mayberry; and sister, Margaret Scott.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Roger Dale Payne of Cookeville; sons, Wayne (Dianna) Brett of New Cuyama, CA and Robbie (Melissa) Payne of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Kimberly (Vinceson) Williams of Cookeville and Mary Payne of Cookeville; brothers, Raymond Mayberry, Charles Mayberry, Michael Mayberry, Dennis Mayberry and Roscoe Mayberry; sisters, Clema Scanlon, Juanita Judd, Jeanette Stewart and Shirley Kinnaird; grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Landon, Devin, Jace, Nathan and Liam; and great grandchildren, Harper, Trypp and Colt.

Steven Dale Hammock

Steven Dale Hammock, 49, of Gordonsville, passed away July 12. Funeral services were held July 16 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Gary Wilson, Sherman Reed and Mike Dunn officiating. Interment followed in the Draper Cemetery on Wartrace Hwy. Pallbearers were Brian Haney, Jesse West, Heavy Chevy, Turner Gentry, Morgan Gentry, Matthew Gentry, Jason Rich and Crayton Key. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Prichard, Roger Gentry, Harold Flatt, Larry England and Richard Colley.

He was born Jan. 8, 1972 in Livingston. He was an auto mechanic and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by: mothers, Jeanette Brown Walker and Willa Dean Caruthers Hammock; brother, Donnie Stafford; and sisters, Connie Rhodes and Brenda Freed.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Teri Jo Haaser of Gordonsville; son Braden Hammock of Gordonsville; daughter, Hannah Haaser of Gordonsville; brothers, Mark Lee Brown and Christopher Hammock, both of Bloomington Springs; sisters, Vicky Flatt of Gainesboro and Shelia Turner of Rickman; father, Earl Hammock of Bloomington Springs; aunts and uncles, Marie and Larry England, Randy and Susie Whited; nephews, Caden Brown and Corey Jackson; niece, Leslie Turner; brother and sister in law, Jennifer and Roger Gentry; in laws, Mike and Linda Clower; and boss, Mike and Kay Prichard.

Jake Mayberry

Jake Mayberry, 45, of Bloomington Springs, passed away at his residence. The family has chosen cremation with memorial services at a later time.

He was born Oct. 4, 1975 in Cookeville. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Cookeville.

He was preceded in death by: father, Charlie Odell Mayberry; and sister, Charlene Speck.

Surviving relatives include: son, Joseph (Victoria) Kent Mayberry of Bloomington Springs; daughters, Samantha (Zachary) Michelle Morgan of Cookeville and Haley Brook Mayberry of Gainesboro; mother, Mary Mansell of Cookeville; brother, Charlie Mayberry of Cookeville; sister, Donna Cleghorne of Bloomington Springs; and grandchildren, Cassidy Hamman, Shelby Mayberry, Jackson Mayberry, Rachel Mayberry and Natalie Mayberry.
