Margaret Anderson Archer Bailey

Margaret Anderson Archer Bailey passed away Aug. 15 in Nashville. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

She was born Sept. 15, 1953 in Gainesboro. She was a talented singer and Grammy nominated songwriter. She began her music career with The Frazier Moss String-Band where she then met and became one of the founding members of The Cluster Pluckers, her musical family for over four decades. She performed alongside Chet Atkins, Vassar Clements, Johnny Cash, John Hartford and many others.

She was preceded in death by: father Dr. Bill Anderson.

Surviving relatives include: mother, Katherine Baugh Anderson; daughters, Leah (Matt Slider and grandson, Vandon) and Clara Sue Bailey; brother Tom (Kitty Anderson) and their children; and beloved nieces, Nora, Beth and Lucy Anderson Green.

Joyce Ann Thomason

Joyce Ann Thomason, 73, of Gainesboro, passed away Aug. 18 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Pigg Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Hadynski, Austin Scott, Joe Scott, Dusty Stafford, Jesse Fuller and Billy Pippin.

She was born Oct. 23, 1947 in Jackson County. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Charlie Lee Pigg and Lena Liza Young Pigg; husband, John Edward Thomason; grandchildren, Caitlin Brooke Thomason and Abbiegail Hope Thomason; brother, Herbert Willard Pigg; and son in law, Joe Christopher Scott.

Surviving relatives include: sons, John (Andrea) Thomason II and Jason Thomason of Gainesboro; daughters, Renea Scott of Hilham and Connie Strong of Gainesboro; sister, Jill Stafford of Gainesboro; special friend, Edward Ryan of Gainesboro; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Betty K. Heady

Betty K. Heady, 81, passed away Aug. 21 at Smith County Health and Rehab Center in Carthage. Funeral services were held Aug. 24 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Prophet Jerry Wallace officiating. Interment followed in the Byers Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brad Heady, Dylan Heady, B.J. Comstock, Daniel McCoy, Daniel Heady, Evan Thompson and Bud Daniels.

She was born Jan. 21, 1940 in Jackson County. She was a member of the Truth and Deliverance International Ministries.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Nolan Herod Loftis and Flossie B. Stafford Loftis; husband, Clarence Heady Jr.; brothers, Arvil, Leo, Harlan, Damon, Wilburn, Gilbert and Donald Loftis; and sister, Agnes Martin.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Dale (Tammy) Heady of Chestnut Mound and Mike (Rhonda) Heady of Portland; brothers, J L Loftis of Gainesboro and Herod (Linda) Loftis of Chestnut Mound; sister, Lucille Mansell of Gainesboro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Marie Scott

Marie Scott, 71, of Gainesboro, passed away Aug. 21 at Mabry Healthcare and Rehab Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 24 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Scott officiating. Interment followed in the Dodson Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dylan Sandlin, Jeff Scott, Charles Stafford, Michael Burris, Harold Scott and Rodney McMillan.

She was born Sept. 24, 1949 in Jackson County. She was a memver of the Harmony Church of Christ and a cafeteria worker at Mabry Healthcare and Rehab.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Walter Pigg and Rosa Hix Pigg; husband, Ronald Kelly Brown; brothers, Grady and Robert (Bob) Pigg; sister in law, Peggy Pigg; nephew, Patrick Pigg; and grandparents, Josh and Harriet Pigg and Alvin and Mary Hix.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Odell Scott of Cookeville; daughter, Rhonda (Joe Young) Brown of Gainesboro; step sons, Jeff (Lisa) Scott of Cookeville and Christ Scott of Gainesboro; step daughter, Julie King of Livingston; sister in law, Reba Pigg of Cookeville; granddaughter, Kelly Jo Young of Gainesboro; step grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Daniel Scott and Morgan Johnson; step great grandchild, Bailey Scott; and other relatives and many friends.

Jessica Leighann Rush

Jessica Leighann Rush, 30, of the Center Grove community, passed away Aug. 24 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Fox officiating. Interment followed in the Rodgers Cemetery in Putnam County.

She was born April 5, 1991 in Livingston.

She was preceded in death by: maternal grandfather, Troy Rodgers; maternal grandmother, Shirley Ann Phillips; paternal grandmother, Linda Solomon; maternal great grandparents, Bill and Nellie Phillips; and paternal grandparents, Fred and Pearl Rush.

Surviving relatives include: parents, Rusty Solomon and Betty Ann Solomon of Gainesboro; brothers, Jason David Sherfield of Gainesboro and Paul Howard Rush of McMinnville; and grandfather, Pa Soloman.

Patricia Stafford

Patricia Stafford, 54, of the Center Grove community, passed away Aug. 23 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Aug. 27 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Haney officiating. Interment followed in the John Young Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 21, 1967 in Detroit, Mich. She was a furniture factory worker and a member of the Cummins Mill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: parents, James Walter Murray and Lois Hillda Cronk Murray; and brother, James Richard Murray.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Randal Stafford of Gainesboro; son, Brandon Stafford of Gainesboro; daughter, Callie (David) Gibson of Gainesboro; sisters, Lisa Branson of Cookeville and Vicky Mayberry of Carthage; and grandchild, Aiden Gibson of Gainesboro.

Glinda Kelley

Glinda Kelley, 62, of Gainesboro, passed away Aug. 23 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. The family has chosen cremation, with no services at this time.

She was born Oct. 22, 1958 in Gainesboro. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by: father, Robert Hamlet; and grandmother, Sarah Smith.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Jack Kelley of Gainesboro; daughters, Jennifer Diane Kelley and Jackie Leann Kelley, both of Gainesboro; brother, Robert Hamlet of Livingston; sister, Lisa Bohanon of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Ryan Hix, Zoe Kelley and Derrick Martin.
