Marie Scott

Marie Scott, 80, of the Harmony community, passed away Sept. 15 at her residence. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Elise Henley officiating. Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

She was born Oct. 8, 1941 in Big Stone Gap, VA. She was a housewife and a member of the Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Walter Swiney and Bessie Mullins Swiney; grandchild, Richie; great grandchild, Elizabeth; and brother, Walter Swiney, Jr.

Surviving relatives include: husband, Bill Scott of Gainesboro; sons, Billy Joe Scott of Dayton, Ohio, Danny Scott of FL and Johnny Scott of Gainesboro; daughter, Debbie McIntosh of Riverside, Ohio; sister, Patricia Galloway of Big Stone Gap, Va.; grandchildren, Brent, Amber, Billy, Katie, Rachael, Sarah, John and Brandy; and 15 great grandchildren.

Frances M. Hix

Frances M. Hix Swezea , 69, of Gainesboro, passed away Sept. 15 at her home. Graveside services were held Sept. 17 at the Pharris Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating.

She was born Dec. 24, 1951 in Gainesboro. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a longtime caregiver to many people. She loved to do woodwork, paint, fish, hunt and spend time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Charles Reed Hix and Pauline Smith Hix; the father of her children, Jim Swezea; and sister, Rosetta Hix Heady.

Surviving relatives include: daughters, Carmen (Jamie) Waggoner of Carthage and Casey (Justin) Moore of Sparta; grandchildren, Noah Brown, Emma Brown, Allie Moore and Jace Moore; sister, Nancy (David) Bane of Lebanon; nephews, Chas (Rachel) Heady of Warrensburg, Mo., Calvin Heady of Warrensburg, Mo. and Dillon (Kendra) Bane of Franklin, Ky.; and four step grandchildren.

Joshua Shawn (Josh) Stafford

Joshua Shawn (Josh) Stafford, 44, of Red Boiling Springs, passed away Sept. 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Sisco officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs.

He was born Feb. 14, 1977 in Jackson County. He worked as a tool and die operator.

He was preceded in death by: father, Jimmy Ray Stafford.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Darlene Stafford of Red Boiling Springs; son, Isaac Shawn Stafford of Red Boiling Springs; daughter, Aleasia Faith Stafford of Red Boiling Springs; mother, Cathy Stafford of Whitleyville; brothers, Cain Stafford of Whitleyville and Jason Stafford of Gainesboro; and sister, Rhonda McDowell of Whitleyville.

Tracy Mitchel Woodruff

Tracy Mitchel Woodruff, 50, of Cookeville, passed away Sept. 12 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation, with services at a later time.

She was born July 22, 1971 in Cookeville. He was a member of the United Native American Movement Church.

He was preceded in death by: parents.

Surviving relatives include: son, Shawn Woodruff of Cookeville; daughter, Autumn Woodruff of Cookeville; brother, Philip Flatt of Cookeville; sisters, Brenda Stafford and Georgia Stafford, both of Cookeville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

John G. Osborne

John G. Osborne, 68, of Longview,Texas, passed away Sept. 11 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were held Sept. 15 at the Pharris Cemetery in McCoinsville community with Bro. David Hall officiating.

He was born Jan. 13, 1953 in Gainesboro. He worked as a welder and was a man of God, dedicated father, grandfather and husband.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Calvin Osborne and Wanda Poston Osborne.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Debra Osborne of Longview, Texas; son, Daniel John Osborne of Huffman, Texas; daughter, Joy C. (Joshua) Nguyen of Topeka, Kan.; brother, Calvin Osborne of Cookeville; and grandchildren, Katherine, Valeri and Lily Nguyen.

Sara Lee Forkum

Sara Lee Forkum, 94, of Gainesboro, passed away. No services are planned.

She was born July 3, 1927 in South Pittsburg, She was employed in Oak Ridge during her college years. She loved when the book the Girls of Atomic City came out. In 1961 she became the Selective Service Clerk in Jackson County. During the Vietnam Era she saw many boys picked up by Yank Stafford and after they left she laid her head on her desk and cried.

She was preceded in death by: parents, George Leslie Lee, Sr and Bessie (Ewton) Lee; daughter, Kathryn Reece Valyo; and grandson, David Lee Forkum.

Surviving relatives include: son, Kenneth; daughter, Suzanne; and grandchildren, Kevin Thomas and Jennifer Sparks.
