The Jackson County Board of Commissioners is entering into an agreement with Vogue Towers in an attempt to improve cell phone service to underserved parts of the county.
Jackson County Mayor Randy Heady said he was approached by Verizon Wireless about the possibility of improving service.
“Verizon is in the process of leasing a tower in Gainesboro,” Heady said. “When they approached me, it gave me the opportunity to talk about putting towers in other parts of the county; what’s the likelihood of that that has low cell phone service.”
