Clarence Oliver Anderson

Clarence Oliver Anderson, 86, of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 7 at his residence. Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Rash Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 27, 1935 in Jackson County. He was a former Agriculture Teacher at Jackson County High School and also a teacher for the Adult Education Program in Jackson County. He was a captain in the Tennessee National Guard.

He was preceded in death by: parents, James Bedford and Lola Betty Loftis Anderson; brothers, Herman C. Anderson, Elbert C. Anderson and Fred T. Anderson; and sisters, Virdia Spurlock, Doyle Anderson, Dona L. Anderson and Bonnie Forkum.

Surviving relatives include: son, Randall Wayne Anderson of Gainesboro; daughter, Sherry Anderson of Estill Springs; brother, Carl Anderson of Gainesboro; nieces, Pat Medlin of Baxter and Denise (Ron) Cantrell of Cookeville; nephews, Ernest Clay (Amanda) Spurlock of Panama and Mike (Jeanine) Anderson of Mass; and other relatives and many friends.

Alma Jean Hix

Alma Jean Hix, 85, of Whitleyville, passed away Jan. 10 at Celina Health and Rehabilitation Center. The family has chosen cremation, with interment at a later time at John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 23, 1936 in Jackson County. She worked as a cashier at Gainesboro Foodtown and was a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: parents, William Fred Hix and Lillie Denton Hix; brothers, Fred Hix Jr., Earl E. Hix, Leamon Hix, Eldon Hix and William Robert Hix; sisters, Ova Flatt, Minnie Stafford and Dorothy Sadler; and nephew, Terry Sadler.

Surviving relatives include: nephew, Kevin Hix; nieces, June Carver, Lois Harp, Doris Long and Judy Flatt; and sister in law, Dorothy Hix.

Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Timothy James Moeller

Timothy James Moeller, 69, passed away Jan. 11 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. His wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

He was born Feb. 12, 1952 in Mount Clemens, MI. He was a 27 year Veteran of the US Marines.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Herbert Andrew Moeller and Jean Kathryn Parrott Moeller; and sister, Andrea Kay.

Surviving relatives include: companion, Sandra Loise Zanotti-Wilson; son, Richard Jason Moeller; daughter, Chandra Lowe; brothers, Rick Jay Moeller and Matthew Herbert Moeller; sisters, Garre Rae Croswell, Kathy Jean Hobbs, Lynn Miller and Amy Stiles; and grandchildren, Alyssa Lowe, Arianna Lowe and Autumn Lowe.

Thelma Marie Petty

Thelma Marie Petty, 88, of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 12 at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville. Funeral services were held Jan. 15 at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Isaac Flatt Cemetery.

She was born April 9, 1933 in Gainesboro. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Lee Boyd Flatt and Eula May Flatt; husband, Willis Petty; husband, Richmond Flournoy; husband, Bobby Brown; step son, Earnest Petty; and brothers, Dell Huston Flatt, William Bethel Flatt, Erman Cee Flatt and Clarence Flatt.

Surviving relatives include: sons, Robert Flournoy of Crossville, Ricky Flournoy of Gainesboro, Bobby Brown of Cookeville and Paul Petty of Carthage; daughters, Bessie Stephenson of Cookeville, Debra Moore of Granville and Ann Huepenbecker of MI; step daughter, Shirley Brown Scott of Gainesboro; and brother, Herman Dee Flatt of Lebanon.

Ruby Alice Stafford

Ruby Alice Stafford, 64, of Gainesboro, passed away Jan. 12 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Jan. 15 at the Free State Church of Christ in Jackson County with Bro. Larry Stafford and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating. Interment followed in the Danny Stafford Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 6, 1957 in Michigan. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by: father, Tillmon Hillary Peek.

Surviving relatives include: mother, Maxine McGivern of Gainesboro; husband, Grover Lee Stafford of Gainesboro; daughter, Heather (Sammy) Leigh Stimits of Hilham; son, Daniel Gene Stafford of Gainesboro; sister, Patricia Ann Brewer of Jamestown, brother: Ronald (Jody) Peek of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Allison Taylor Plemmons and Brendon Lee Plemmons; and great grandchild, Danny Grace Rose.

Morgan Roosevelt Medlin

Morgan Roosevelt Medlin, 88, of Cookeville, passed away on Jan. 13 at his home. His wishes of cremation with no visitation or services was followed.

He was born April 4, 1933 in Jackson County. He was educated in the Jackson County School system and graduated in May 1952. He was a well-know gospel preacher and served as a minister for Churches of Christ in Kentucky, Tennesse and Georgia. He also preached at Gospel meetings, VBS, Homecomings, Summer Series and various special occasions across the county.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Walter and Rhoda Flatt Medlin; and siblings, Maggie (Russell) Flatt, Hattie (Cordell) Thornton, Lydia (Carman) Johnson, Verble (Gladys) Medlin, Vistil (Christine) Medlin, Beulah (Andy) Flatt, Carl (Ruth) Medlin and Vola (Albert) Roberts.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Margaret Evelyn Lawrence Medlin; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
