Collaborative Training Strengthens Jackson County Emergency Preparedness

Posted

More than 75 public safety personnel from a dozen different agencies across Jackson County have completed specialized training courses in the past two months, significantly enhancing the county’s emergency response capabilities. The Jackson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) organized and sponsored the 16-hour Search and Rescue (SAR 101) course and the 10-hour Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) as part of its 2025 goal to facilitate more training opportunities for local agencies.

Jackson County EMA emphasized that interdepartmental trainings like these strengthen the county’s emergency response system. The agency noted that individuals dedicated considerable time and effort to complete these courses, driven by the goal of better serving their friends and neighbors in times of need.

Participating agencies included Central Fire Department, Dodson Branch Fire Department, Fairview Fire Department, Flynn’s Lick Fire Department, Nameless Fire Department, South Side Fire Department, Jackson County Rescue Squad, Jackson County EMS, Jackson County EMA, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Gainesboro Police Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Jackson County EMA extended its gratitude to all participants and those who helped make the training possible, including Lakeview Church of Christ and Jackson County High School for the use of their facilities.
