Makynzee Schneider officially signed her letter of intent on Tuesday, January 28, to continue both her academic and athletic career at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois. The talented senior will graduate this May before heading to Shawnee, where she will join the Saints softball team.

Shawnee Community College, founded in 1967, currently boasts an enrollment of 2,209 students for the Spring 2025 semester. The college’s athletic teams, known as the Saints, compete in NJCAA Division I as part of Region 24 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. In addition to softball, SCC also fields teams in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball.

When asked about her academic plans, Makynzee shared her aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. "I have three sisters and one brother. I'm going to Shawnee to earn my associate degree to eventually become a veterinarian! Yes, one hundred percent, I'm not totally sure, but hopefully, I'm somewhere closer to home!" she said.

Her future Softball Coach at Shawnee Community College, Kyle Smith, had high praise for the athlete, highlighting her dedication and personality. “Mak is a great kid. She’s what you look for as a coach: hard-nosed, hard worker, talented, and a great student. She’s a bit of a character too, so she will fit in great with her teammates here,” he said.
