Jackson County E-911 is reporting two separate vehicle accidents over the weekend have injured five people. The first automobile accident occurred on South Grundy Quarles Highway near Pap Johnson Circle around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The accident reportedly involved four vehicles. E-911 reports six occupants were evaluated, while four of them were treated at the scene and transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center by Jackson County EMS.
A second accident on South Grundy Quarles Highway near the intersection of the Gainesboro Grade was reported around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. The crash was reportedly witnessed by a patrolling Jackson County sheriff’s deputy. According to E-911, one juvenile male was occupant was trapped inside the vehicle, which was initially reported to be on fire. The deputy, with the help of passersby, extinguished the fire and provided aid to the driver. He was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel and treated at the scene before he was transported by Jackson County EMS to Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County Rescue Squad, Jackson County EMS, and Jackson County Central Fire Department responded to both incidents.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating both accidents. No additional information was released about the incidents.
