Carol Poteet 

Sandra Carolyne Poteet was born March 19, 1942, in Gainesboro,and she passed from this life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at The Waters of Gainesboro in Gainesboro. She was 82 years old.

She was the daughter of Averette Dudney and Mary Shepherd. She loved spending time with her family, antiquing, and looking for deals at yard sales and Goodwill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sammie Roe Poteet, daughter Shelia Bowman Collins, brother Joe Dudney, sister Barbara Dudney, and brother-in-law Bobby Vanhooser.

Survivors include her daughter: Connie Bowman (Glynn) Warden of Gainesboro, TN; Son-in-law: Jeff Collins of Gainesboro; brother: Jimmie (Carol) Dudney of Gainesboro,sister: Jan (David) Shaw of Cookeville; grandchildren: Kasey (Joe) Grounds, Kayla (Chris) Cantrell, Caroline (Dalton) Fish, and Claudia (Evan) Smith; great grandchildren: Kennedy, Delia, Case, and Violet.

The family has chosen cremation, with a private memorial service to be held on a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers in Carol’s memory to the Mustard Seed Ranch or St. Jude’s by contacting the funeral home.

Bobbie Sue Lynn 

Bobbie Sue Lynn was born July 30, 1946, in Jackson County and she passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at NHC in Cookeville at the age of 77.

She was the daughter of Shelby Lynn and Brina Mea Lynn. She was a member of Willette Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother: Junior Lynn; sisters: Modine Pruett, Lorean Davis, Helen Kernell, Winnie B. Craighead, Frances Murphy, Faye Kernell, and Ann Allen.

Ms. Lynn is survived by her sons: Jeff (Jennifer) Heady, Randy (Joyce) Heady both of Gainesboro, TN; brothers: Joe (Linda) Lynn of Red Boiling Springs and Lester Fred of Lafayette,; sisters: Gail (David) Brown of Cookeville, Patricia (Stephen) Powers of Lafayette; grandchildren: Chas (Racheal) Heady, Calvin Heady, Cole Heady, and Cale Heady; Great grandchildren: Gracie Reece, Kori Lynn Heady, and Chelsi Mae Heady.

Visitation was on Monday, April 29, 2024, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services were on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 2 pm in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Honeycutt officiating. Burial followed in Pharris Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chas and Calvin Heady, Cole and Cale Heady, Emory and Aiden Brown, and Rylan Rice.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pharris Cemetery or Indian Mission work by contacting the funeral home.

Jeff Spivey 

Jeffrey Dwight Spivey was born January 10,1967, in Gainesboro and he passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at his residence in Gainesboro at the age of 57.

He was the son of Mr. Roy Dwight Spivey and Patricia Ann Billingsley. He was a retired business owner and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents Otha and Vilola Spivey, Leo and Maggie Billingsley, and Brother-in-law Jason Dietsch

Survivors include his Mother: Patricia Spivey of Madison; Daughter: Kaylia (Chanse) Hopkins of Cookeville; Step daughter: Keisha (Jason) Harper of Baxter; Sisters: Kim (Garry) Stafford of Gainesboro, Jennifer Dietsch of Old Hickory; Grandchild: Kambree Hopkins of Cookeville and Step Grandchild: Khloe Harper of Baxter; Nieces: Andrea Stafford and Alyssa (Lincoln) Ragland both of Gainesboro; Fiancé: Janet Benoit of Gainesboro; Dog: Diesel

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 3 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. A Masonic service weree held on Wednesday at 2 PM with Bro. Danny Huffines officiating. Burial followed in the Hall Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Big Bottom Cemetery Fund.

Ms. Sue Williams 

Debbie Sue Williams, age 68, was born December 4, 1955, in Harlan, Ky. She passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville.

She retired as a teacher from Jackson County and worked as a cook for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, where she taught bible class for many years.

Survivors include her son: BJ (Candice) Wilsford of Bloomington Springs; daughters: Mindy Combs of Gainesboro; Grandchildren: Joshua Blessing, Anthony Combs, Austin (Mary Beth) Combs; Great Grandchildren: Khloe Combs, River Combs, Jaycyee Blessing; son in law: Rusty Combs and many other friends and relatives also survive.

Ms. Sue’s Celebration of life were held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 12:00P.M. with visitation from 10:00A.M. until service time at noon. Officiating was Bro. Jeff Burton, BJ Wilsford and Sister Peggy Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to assist with cremation expenses. Donations may be made by contacting the business office of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Danny D. Jones 

Danny Dale Jones, age 71, was born on January 2, 1953, in Jackson County. He passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Signature Health Care in Cookeville.

Danny was the son of the late Robert Jones and Dorothy Hix Jones.

Survivors include his sister: Denise Loftis of Cookeville, TN; brother: Gary Jones of Smyrna, TN; brother-in-law: Billy Loftis of Cookeville; nephew: Matthew Lynn of Antioch and many other friends and relatives also survive.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Ted Jones.

The Jones family has chosen cremation at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to American Cancer Society or Willow Ave. Meals program. Donations may be made by contacting the business office of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Vivian Christine Sewell 

Vivian Christine Sewell was born April 8, 1967, in Cuero, TX. She passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2024, at her residence at the age of 57.

Christine was the daughter of John Leo Holbrook and Ann Marie Holbrook. She was a retired seamstress. Vivian was a hard worker during her lifetime and loved spending time with her husband Roy.

She was preceded in death by her father John Holbrook, brother Gilbert Humburg, and her uncle Pat Holbrook.

Survivors include her mother, Ann Marie Holbrook of Sevierville; husband, Roy Sewell of Gainesboro; sister, Olivia Holbrook of Sevierville; and several cousins.

The visitation was on Friday, May 2, 2024, 1- 4 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to assist with funeral expenses by contacting the funeral home.

Bobby Dale Lee 

Bobby Dale Lee was born August 31, 1950, in Cookeville and he passed away at his residence in Dodson Branch on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the age of 73.

Bobby was the son of the late Arvil Nathan Lee and Iris Uldean Rodgers. On December 19, 1970, he married Judy Mayberry. He retired after serving 35 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard and he was a member of the Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Amy Beth Lee.

Survivors include his wife Judy lee of Dodson Branch; sons: Brian (Amanda) Lee of Dodson Branch, Mark (Amber) Lee of Rickman; brother: Steve (Nancy) Lee of Murfreesboro; sisters: Joan (Jerry) Binkley of Ashland City, Susan Anderson of McMinnville, Ramona Gaston of Murfreesboro, Chairman (James) Vissering of Marquett Heights, IL; grandchildren: Kailyn, Karson, Allynn, and Avery Lee also survive along with other relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. in the chapel at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home and again on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church from 9 A.M. until time of services at noon. Bobby's going home service were held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church, with Bro. Ronnie Dunn and Bro. Clayton Lee officiating. Burial followed in Dodson Branch Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tennessee National Guard 278th armored regiment.

Anne Burgess Armstrong 

Anne Burgess Armstrong went to be with her Lord on April 30, 2024. Anne was born on January 16, 1935, in Carthage TN and moved to Brush Creek TN when she was two years old. She graduated from Gordonsville High School and attended Tennessee Technological University. Upon finishing school, she moved to Nashville to work. She attended Central Church of Christ where she met the love of her life for 65 years, Lee Armstrong. She taught Sunday School and was involved in many programs of the church.

Anne enjoyed sewing, gardening, and sharing her love of flowers with others and was employed by Prudential Real Estate Investment office. She is survived by a son Anthony (Julie) and daughter Tonya Craven, grandsons Logan (Abby) Armstrong and Eric (fiance' Kalan Lancaster) Armstrong, granddaughter Erin Craven, brother LTC Billy R. Burgess (Linda), and sister-in-law Shirley Armstrong, and loving nieces and nephews. Anne is preceded in death by her husband, her parents Harvey and Nellie Burgess, son-in law James Craven, brother Eldon Burgess, sister Helen Vanstrander, and sister Wanda (Sidney) Williams.

Visitation were held on May 4 at Lebanon Road Church of Christ from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. with a service at 1:00. Following the service, Anne was buried next to her husband in the Brush Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her honor to Brush Creek Church of Christ, 214 Brush Creek Rd, Brush Creek TN 38547 or Disaster Relief, 410 Allied Dr., Nashville 37211.

Charles S. Ragland 

Charles Smith Ragland, 91, was born April 2, 1933, in Jackson County, and he passed away Wednesday May 1, 2024, at The Waters of Gainesboro.

He was the son of the late George William Ragland and Lassie York Ragland. On January 26, 1952, he married Sue Fisher Ragland, who survives. He was the Sherriff of Jackson County in the early 70s, sold insurance, and The City of Gainesboro water Department for nineteen years until he retired. Mr. Ragland was a member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bill W. Ragland and Eddie Ragland; Sisters: Daffo Franklin, Kathy Bain, and Gayle Sheffler.

Survivors include his Wife: Sue F. Ragland of Gainesboro, TN; Son: Charles R. (Joyce Wright) Ragland of Cookeville; daughter: Kim R. (Clif) Haislip of Laurel Hill, NC; Grandchildren: Kelly (Doug) Johnson, Robin (Julio) Velazquez, Shania (Daniel) Hammock, Sara Ragland, Charles Ethan Ragland, Aaron J. Haislip; great grandchildren: Conner Johnson, Riley Johnson, Fitzgerald Velazquez, Florence Velazquez and Parker Hammock.

Funeral services were held on Monday May 6, 2024, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. John R. Fox officiating. Burial followed in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery, in the stone community of Jackson County, TN. Visitation was Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Happy Haven by contacting the funeral home.

Sheena Rea Rochelle 

Sheena Rae Rochelle, age 38, was born April 13, 1986, in Cookeville, TN. She passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at her residence.

She worked as a confectioner at Lazy Cow Creamery in Cookeville, TN. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ in Cookeville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Harold Hensley.

Survivors include her mother: Catherine Hensley of Cookeville; husband: Marcellus Rochelle of Cookeville; stepdaughter: Lalia Dawn Rochelle of Cookeville; Brother: Shawn Raymond Hensley of Granville and many other friends and relatives also survive.

Sheena’s memorial service was held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 4P.M. with visitation from 3P.M. until service time at 4P.M. Officiating will be Bro. Clarance Deloach.

Cuz Carter 

Jerry Lee Carter “Cuz” was born August 30, 1974, in Cookeville and he passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his residence in Gainesboro. He was 49 years old.

He was the son of Nick Carter. Jerry worked as a Heavy equipment operator for serval years.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Nick Carter.

Survivors include his Wife Shana Harris of Sparta, One brother, five sisters, and several other family members.

The family has chosen cremation, with a private memorial service to be held on a later date.
